Keys in August?

Any advice on what the Keys are like in August? I'm not sure we can fit it in with our first ever trip to the parks as there will be so much to do. Planning last two weeks in August and selling our kidneys. We don't mind doing lots of driving. But Keys are meant to be mind blowing so really keen if it's doable.

I definitely wouldn’t go there in August as the heat and humidity will be excessive. Also it’s hurricane season and I wouldn’t want to be trying to evacuate should it become necessary.

If you have extra time and want to get away from Orlando, it would be only about 90 mins east or west to the beaches.

its a long drive, not been there in august but been in september and the heat and humidity was unbelievable, only got relief when it rained, and it rained, it was like rivers running down the street

Thanks. That's what I thought. Will save it for another time - an Easter holiday. It's much more my thing than the parks but it's all about DD (and DH!) this trip as it's a first - plus we need to fit in the space centre.

I'm still torn between sucking up the crowds and cost of Easter - and the heat humidity (but fewer crowds) of late august. Pfftttt.

Flights are horrendous either way.

Easter is really bad for crowds as it’s prime time for the Americans too. I know when you’re dealing with kids you’re stuck with school holidays, but early November is great in Florida. Perfect weather (although still some hurricane risk).

If you have to do August, go as late as you can as many American kids are back in school by mid August, so it might lessen the crowds a bit after that. Mind you, Disney is always fairly busy.

I hope you have a nice time. I loved taking my kids to Disney and I love Florida beaches.
