DSI vs DS Lite

dd (aged 11) has a pink ds (not lite or dsi) that she uses sometimes. DS (7) plays on it a lot & has a birthday coming up soon and we've not a clue what to get him. They both like them when we're on holiday and we're off to florida next year so thinking of getting ds his own nintendo for birthday. Do we get dsi or lite? Have read reviews on websites and they are mixed, i think the camera feature on dsi would appeal to ds for 'mucking around with'. Anyone got one? (ps tried to use mumsnet search facility & it wont take me to the conversation threads just the topic they are in??)

Thanks Mutt, that sounds good so far. I'm not very up on this sort of thing, how easy is it to get the music onto the memory card?

dd who isn't into music doesn't want a dsi cos she says you can't play gameboy games on it.

dd doesn't have a gameboy, but shes a pokemon obsessive fan and has some of the game boy games.

Most of the Pokemon games are on gameboy and gba, which you can play on the DSlite. There are some great games for the gba that are a lot cheaper than DS games.

Thanks folks (especially Mutt). We do have a gameboy advance in a drawer somewhere but very few games for it as we were late getting it and moved onto ds fairly quickly. I'm thinking the dsi looks like the best bet

DSi completely pointless. Get the DS lite
