Gaming PC for 10 yr old

Can anyone help me chose a gaming PC for my ten year old please as I am clueless.
He wants to play Fortnight (COD at some point) Roblox, rocket league. He already has an Xbox and wants the graphics to be better than that.
He wants something he can upgrade as he gets older.
We only have a budget of £600, is it possible to get him anything that will be good enough?
Thank you for any help or advice.

A 10 year old CHILD does not need a gaming PC. Tell him to turn 18 then he'll get this gift.

Another vote for none. Please don't do it. I speak from bitter experience.

DH built his own gaming PC. I suggest you steer DS that way. At least he'll gain skills.

He’s too young to be playing Fortnite and CoD.

Thank you for all your comments. Sorry if I’m a bit nieve but what is different about him playing on an Xbox to a PC?
I really am clueless. I have an app connected to the Xbox on my phone where I can set all the restrictions.
He has his gaming time set to 4 hours a week which is normally used on weekend afternoons.
im just struggling as this is the only think on his birthday list so it would have been from me and all his family members.

I’ve just bought one for my 11 year old. We had a spare tv and used that with it. It was a really good price to on Amazon. You will need to buy a keyboard and mouse to but you can get them cheap enough. https://amzn.eu/d/dcB9V59

Anything that uses Ryzen is good, the newer the better. You can tell by the first number how old it is, so the 2300 is quite dated now, the 9330 is the newest and most expensive, so look for something in the middle of those x

With a budget of £600 you won't get anything even close to better than an Xbox (assuming it's a series X not S). If it's a much older Xbox then maybe look at upgrading that or getting a PS5.

I would absolutely stick to console for a 10 year old, especially if it's in their bedroom. A console is much more locked down and easier to monitor for bad actors trying to contact your child and harder to use for stuff like porn.

shouldofgotamortage · 18/01/2026 12:53

£600 is nowhere near enough. Your looking at least £1000 if you want to be able to upgrade in the future.

DS has something like this, we were impressed with this company. However, he's 16 and bought it with his own money. I'm another who thinks 10 is too young for a gaming PC.

ColdSnowCat · 18/01/2026 14:15

Another one coming here to say that it will be much harder to restrict and control what he does on a PC compared to a console.
