World of Warcraft Nostalgia

Does anyone else wish you could turn back the clock to 2004/05 and experience World of Warcraft again for the first time? Classic is okay, but it's not the same when you already have the knowledge.

Experiencing that for the first time was one of the best periods of gaming in my life (all on dial-up internet!)

Going into Westfall and the Redridge Mountains for the first time, finally discovering that there is actually a tram from Stormwind to Ironforge (rather than my attempts to walk!), swimming across the river from Elwynn to Duskwood and getting shredded by the wolves...

There are lots of good games out there (I mainly play games like Oxygen Not Included nowadays) but nothing matches the first year of WoW

Couldn't agree more. Fantastic times.

I've restarted it not long ago, playing Classic. Had the luck to fall into a really lovely guild and thoroughly enjoying all the content I never saw the first around like BWL and AQ40 and Naxx. The people now seem super chill and there's a lot of laughter. Loving it!

It was the first online RPG I'd ever played so it was a completely unique experience for me. Probably the only other game that stuck in my mind around that time was Fallout 3 (especially the massive draw distance when you first left the vault).

I played WoW as much as I could until the end of the WotLK but didn't really like the Cataclysm expansion so stepped away. Then came back for Pandaria and finally gave it up for good until Classic came out.

I miss not knowing what I was doing (I didn't even realise there was a second continent for about two months!) and the (generally) nice community where you had to protect your reputation on your server because everyone around your level range knew you

I was obsessed but haven’t played for about ten years. I do think about starting again from scratch in classic, as I bet I’d have forgotten 90% of it. We had a MN guild back in the day.

Yes!! I started playing when it was released in the UK and it was just amazing. I played consistently all the way through to WoD but for me the glory days were during Burning Crusade. I played on Draenor EU and had many an hilarious night on world chat once the raiding was over. My two sons also played and our lives for a few years were very wow centric.
I met my now dh as we were in the same guild. We would never have met without WoW as we lived at opposite ends of the country. We also still have friends from those days. Neither of us play wow much now although we still play classic once in a while as does one of my sons. We are still avid gamers but nothing has come close to replicating the awesomeness of those wow days.

I've played other online games and somehow nothing has created quite the same feel as WoW. For better or worse the game play created sort of gameplay/ social synergy that nothing else has ever come close to.

Apparently some of the classic servers will be updated to the Burning Crusade soon, but honestly just plain classic is lovely.

If you do restart Classic and go to a pve server @YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt let me know in PM and I'll give ya a hand :-D

To be honest, no, I would not want to experience the whole period of trying to learn to play the game. I'm a person who doesn't enjoy learning new stuff and feels good with my routine, so I love knowing the game as well as I do now. I play for 18 years now, it's crazy.
