What switch would you get?

Im new to this! I believe there a switch and a new switch 2 come out. My son wants one for his birthday. The price difference is about 150 quid and the games for the 2 are alot more expensive. I dont want to buy the old one though for it to be obsolete in a year or so. Advice?

Any new games will only release on the switch two from here on. If your child will be playing games along with their school friends and they all move to a new game, your child won't be able to join in if they have a switch one.

If they will only be playing single player games then it won't matter as much, but once they get really into a series of games they may be disappointed at not being able to play the newest one. You would probably only get 1-2 years use out of a switch one before needing to upgrade

Consoles usually release once every 7 years so if you get the switch two now then it will last you another 7 years since it only just came out in June, so now is a good time to get one really if you can afford it.

Games do often go on sale so you don't always pay the higher prices. You can buy games online directly on the switch and there are often big discounts available there so don't just focus on the box prices.

Yep agree, zero point buying the old Switch as new games will end up only being compatible on the Switch 2.

Seen this is an older post but mum gamer here!

Games are actually being released on both right now. There are 2 versions being released but some are coming out as switch 2 exclusive.

If its his first switch definitely a 2. He can play the old and the new.

If he already had a switch I would say wait until there is a switch 2 excl he really wants as a lot are being released across both consoles right now.

I myself have a switch and waiting for a game to come out that pushes me to get a switch 2

That's what I am doing too @AlexisP90 I don't see the point in buying a new Switch to play the same games, but a new Animal Crossing would tip me over!

Same! Thats one game i do think will be exclusive to Switch 2 and if and when it comes that will probably be when I upgrade too!
