It’s a stretch but we might be able to get one with money from DMIL - but I’m worried it’s something he’ll use for 2 weeks then get bored of. Does anyone have any thoughts on this - looking for advice thanks

The question is.. how will you get him off it?? I don’t have any experience, but has he tried it at friends houses? What does the parent say there? Can random people you don’t know talk to him on it? Will it be in his bedroom? Will that interfere with his sleep.. temptation… I’ve a 12 year old too and these are the questions I’d be interested in knowing..

We got one on marketplace as I was worried about the same thing. We all use it, the most impressive technology I've ever seen!
We love walk the plank and job simulator. Even just the home screen is incredible when you have the headset on!

I was quite strict on timings as I read somewhere that it's not good for you to wear for a certain period, and I ended up feeling a bit travel sick after ten mins or so anyway....

My two DNs have one each, they use they them every single day unless it’s a day where we are all out exploring etc. Expensive purchase but based on hope much they use they it’s amazing value

He won’t get bored. It’s astonishing. I like a game atm where you’re doing manicures on giants! It needs charging after two hours so he wouldn’t be on it constantly.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Sounds like I don’t need to worry about him getting bored at least - more about how to manage his time on it

Some advice from Meta here about children and VR. You can set time limits on it, if that is a worry.
