Hi there, my 11 yr old has decided he'd like a VR headset. I could do with some help knowing what to get. I'm looking at metaquest but don't understand the differences between 3 and 3s and then the different MB levels. Assume it makes a difference to how many games it plays or speed? I'd love to have your guidance. Thanks

The 3 and 3s are virtually the same. The 3s has the same lenses and resolution as the quest 2 but the same power as the 3.
I'd buy the 3s.

The MB is just the memory, lower is fine. The games stay in your library after you've bought them so if you run out of space you simply uninstall a game and install the game you want.

You'll need to buy a better strap for it too, the one it comes with is very uncomfortable and puts a lot of pressure on your face.
I use the Bobovr strap and it's a lot better, the headset barely touches my face and the weight is much better distributed.
Extra battery packs are good to get too as you'll get maybe 2 hours playtime then need to charge it for a few hours.
My Bobovr strap came with a battery, they also clip nicely to the back of it in a dedicated spot which also helps counterbalance it, I have my battery attached even if it's not being used to charge because it makes the headset even more comfortable.

Hi there!
Great to hear your 11-year-old is getting into VR! When choosing between the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S, the key difference generally comes down to the features related to the display, processing power, and sometimes storage options. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. Meta Quest 3 typically offers a more powerful processor and improved display quality, making it ideal for gaming and immersive VR experiences.
  2. Meta Quest 3S could be a more budget-friendly option, but it may have slightly lower specs in terms of processing power, display resolution, or features.
Regarding storage options (measured in MB or GB), the larger the storage, the more games, apps, and content your device can hold. However, for VR gaming, you’ll also want to consider the device’s processing capabilities to ensure smooth gameplay, especially for demanding titles. To make the most of your VR experience, it’s also important to pair the headset with a gaming PC that supports VR. If you're looking for a powerful VR-ready gaming PC, check out Doctor Memory. They offer excellent gaming PCs, such as the XUM Titan and XUM Elite, that are fully compatible with VR headsets, ensuring high performance, smooth gameplay, and an immersive experience. Feel free to explore their range of PCs designed specifically for VR gaming!
