Anyone play Baldur’s Gate 3?

Love this game. Just completed a run through on tactician mode so feeling pretty chuffed! Anyone else enjoy this game?

I've not finished it, but it was absolutely the game of the year. One of if not the best RPGs ever!!! The story was excellent.

I agree, it’s so good. I love the way you can play it multiple times with the story being a bit different depending on which character you play or the choices you make or the way the dice rolls.

Hmmmm, 1st chapter excellent, 2nd chapter boring, 3rd chapter OK. Yes it looks amazing but for us oldies the game play is not as good as it should be....

Yep, I’m about 100 hours in and love it. I play D&D with a group of women (who met on Mumsnet!) and most of them are also playing as well- it’s been fun comparing characters and journeys with them!

I have it, but I haven't started it yet!
I'm excited at the possibility of making my D&D character 😂 (but I need life to slow down a little before I can invest the time I want to).

394 hours in and I only need one more trophy to get platinum.

I’m not sure which chapter I like best as I like them all for different reasons. But, yeah chapter two is probably my least favourite although chapter two does have my favourite cut scene.

I’ve never played D&D before playing Baldurs Gate but I’ve always thought it seemed like something I would enjoy.

My first character in Baldurs Gate was a Bard Gnome - she was awesome. Then I did a dark urge run though as a Drow Sorcerer. I’m currently in Chapter 3 with a Half-Elf Druid and Chapter 1 with a Githyanki Monk build.

I am really enjoying it - I dread it ending because it’s been so much fun.

I have created a character utterly unlike me - big, athletic and taciturn. It’s been terrific fun.

The party members trying to cop off with you is annoying, though. I’m like, “Gale, dude, I love you but just NO. And Laezel, never ever mention tasting my skin every again. Friends do not lick other friends.”

Scratch and the Owlbear cub thankfully are happy to see me and not try date me (accusatory side-eye at Halsin in bear form)

@JingleB very true - my DS said ‘you just need to stop flirting with them!’. I’m not flirting! I’m just being friendly and kind! 🤣

DS tells me I take the flirty conversation options when I think I’m just being a supportive friend to them.

I wasn’t expecting all the sexy time in The Witcher either, when I was just being nice to people.

However, I have slapped down all potential partners and am happy to remain pals. Karlach is my favourite, she’s so upbeat!

JingleB I dropped Gale for Karlach because he's so creepily obsessed with Mystra and Karlach is so cheerful. I got weirded out with Laezel like a colleague at worked had come on to me😅 I'm softening to Halsin since he mentioned whittling 🤣

I'm halfway through chapter 2, I really like it but my husband and I are still talking about our adventures, funny moments and party members from Divinity2. I'm not sure which I like better yet

DS and I play lots of RPGs together. Have done for years since the days of the Megadrive... He usually plays a glamorous female magic user and I a barbarian male thug. What's the point of a fantasy if you don't escape from normality? 😁
Anyhow, we've been postponing Baldur's Gate 3 hoping it would get cheaper, but succumbed last month. Too addictive! DH, who isn't into online games, is feeling somewhat neglected!
My character is letting Asterion get a little too touchy-feely rather impulsive. DS is forever having to rescue me from getting slaughtered.
We've heard a reference to Minsc and Boo, who we remember fondly from Baldur's Gate 1, hope we might see them again?

You’re right about Gale, I liked him most in Ch1 but see his many flaws a little too clearly in Ch3. Hubris Boy, we call him. He’s still good fun sometimes. But Karlach, now she is an absolute sweetheart.

I took a long time to get past wanting to slap Asterion for being such a dick to everyone. He’s not as sexy and clever as he thinks he is. But he was just a broken, abused kid at heart, and is much better now.

Will is steady as an oak, bless his honourable heart. Shadowheart has a crap name but a very touching story. I like her Ch3 look much better than her Ch1 look.

DS was delighted by the reappearance of some old faces. As a Noob I didn’t have the same context, but it’s still fun.

@bluesatin You might see Minsc and Boo in Act 3. Just be sure to take Jaheira with you! On my first play through I accidentally got Jaheira killed in Act 2 and she wasn’t a party member yet so couldn’t revive her - missed out on a lot of Act 3 content

@JingleB Karlach is definitely one of my favourites too. I like Gale when I keep him in camp but when he’s in party he’s so annoying - he never shuts up!

Don’t worry about finishing Act 3 as you can just start all over again 😂

Why isn't anyone else loving our lad Wyll? He's such a decent lad, made a pact with an actual devil just to save everyone, even though it cost him his father's love and respect. He's a dependable and honourable guy who'd not drink your blood while you were napping, unlike some shady asshats we could mention.

Shadowheart is harder to like because she's such an emo sulker to start with.

I'm oddly fond of Withers. Arabella and Withers is a cute double act for a while there. However, he can knock off being judgey about my refusal to date people. That was just mean.

Oh, and I can't go back and start again because I can't actually use the PS5 (pathetic but true). DS does the controller, I make the choices. It's like his 'good deed for the elderly' 😁

I mostly just play Civ on my laptop.

I'm playing as Shadowheart but I wish I had made a character now. I would like to romance Astarion because I think he’s quite sexy, but he also seems like a bit of a dick….

I hope I’ll get as attached to the characters as I did when I played Octopath Traveller 3, which is a JRPG with 2D-3D graphics. So a totally different style to BG3 but so beautiful.

@GenXCoasterFan Make good choices and Astarion’s dickishness will settle down eventually. Louche and selfish, but much improved.

Haha! Thought I’d revisit this thread as I started playing in February after having sunk about 126 hours into another RPG. I’m now 179h into BG3. I posted previously that I thought Astarion was a bit of a dick … absolutely love him now and he his my romance partner. I have completed his quest and loved the way his story unfolded. Massively way more attached to these characters than any other characters for any game I’ve previously played. Even Lae’zel has grown on me - she’s my bestie!
Already planning my second run. Much admiration for those of you who do it in honour mode or tactician mode. I am still on Explorer but will definitely increase difficulty for the next run. I’ve managed to succeed in all of the battles first time around apart from 3 so far (Cazador the hardest so far).
