Is it OK to not enjoy online multiplayer gaming?

Online multiplayer gaming. How much of a pastime is this for 11-13 year old boys?

It’s one of these topics I’m currently questioning as I set limits for my son.

would be good to get different perspectives.

I'm not looking forward to this age as my son is only 6 and is already incredibly annoying whenever a headset is involved. I'm expecting it to be something he wants to do every night though, it was for me when I was his age, although I was playing MUDs.
