New thread. No routes where I am. We're going to be at Pokémon Go Fest on 6 August. V excited.

Okay great thank you for explaining that. So my only 4* is Metapod but it seems a bit pointless as you can't battle with it. I'm confused what makes it a 4, am I right in saying he's not very good?

Technically, he's the very best (like no-one ever waaaas 🎶)

Metapod is useless but if you evolve it it can be useful in PvP in the low leagues

I favourite my 3-star ones too as well as special event and shiny ones. As already said I also only keep lower ones if that's all I have. I like to keep at least one of each evolution and if it's a shiny I try to keep two of each evolution so I have spares in case of trades.

This is a 4-star when you appraise it. 100% so top stats. Doesn't always mean it'll be a good Pokémon for battling though but I love getting a 100% one.

Yes, sometimes the 4* ones are terrible for battles but it is fun when you get one.

Thanks for all your help so far. What does the purple flame mean in the picture I posted? Also what does purify do and is it worth doing?

They are shadow Pokémon from shadow raids or go rocket battles.

If you get a 3* it's worth purifying, as then they take less candy to evolve and power up, so more efficient. They sometimes come out as 4 after purifying, even if they weren't before.

Shadow can be more effective attackers in raids, so I'm trying to build a useful shadow team of Pokémon as well.

@iwantsunshine1 I think we might almost have been near enough to do a party at some point today! I hardly know anyone local so nice to think we might be able to arrange a trade if we ever become lucky friends.

Did anyone get a mewtoo? I hadn't realised the raids were local only, so no chance here. I even bought some remote raid passes in preparation before realising, hopefully I'll be able to find something interesting to do with them.

@AlmostLegendary yes I thought that as soon as we became friends how close we are! Everyone one else is very up country from us, I was pleasantly surprised

Out of interest does anyone have something specific they're trying to achieve/reach? To level up, to complete the Pokédex, complete the research etc.

I'm trying to get one of each Pokémon and one of each shiny

Currently I’m working on achieving my platinum showcase badge. I’m 8 away from that. Also chipping away at my pilot badge but need to make more of an effort on that. Only 2.7 million miles to go… got 23 badges I still need to max out but some of those aren’t actually possible atm.

Long term I’m still trying to get the last two unowns I need which are z and ? Willing to travel to get them if anyone has either going spare…? Also I’m always after regionals I’m missing. Currently after sensu style oricorio and both yellow and blue flower Flabebe. Unfortunately ill health has limited my travelling options so I’m relying on trades. I’m saving up furfrou in the hopes of being able to evolve the various forms when/if I’m ever well enough to travel again.

Also, buddy play is sort of fixed. You can play with your buddy but it's on a sort of green screen background.

I still don't like the new avatars. I liked pretending I was a pretty manga girl for a bit.

That is super impressive! I've only got silver and that involved considerable shuffling of xxls between the more obscure showcases in town.

I'd like to build teams and competence to reliably get to Ace/2000 in battle league. So mostly powering up my ML team as aiming for giant 4*s is easier than knowing what exactly is best in cp limited leagues.

How do community days work please? Do I just go out and play as normal to try and catch the Bagon Pokemon?

Pretty much! The spawns will be basically just bagon from 2-5pm, and there's a special research you can buy for 99p that will give you extra rewards and encounters. Bagon will have a boosted shiny rate (I think 1/64?) and personally I think it's a lovely green colour

The mysterious components when you get to 6/6 make a rocket radar and then you fight one of the bosses, instead of just another grunt.

Purified gems can be thrown at bosses during shadow raids. I don't use them as quickly as I accumulate them, because I don't do that many raids where you'd need them. I delete quite a few.

Purified gems only stack up to 10 usually, so may be easier to just let them stack up to max than delete them and have to sit through the animation of finding them again every time you do a rocket battle.

And the shadow shards I think you collect x4 to add up to a purified gem. Will stop accumulating once the purified gems are at 10. I think it's 4, like AlmostLegendary I don't do many shadow raids so mine mostly sit around at 10.

I still don't get how the gems work. They never seem to for me. The Pokémon stays enraged
