New thread. No routes where I am. We're going to be at Pokémon Go Fest on 6 August. V excited.

I'd forgotten about the special researches at all gremlin, it takes me so long to get through these levels. Half way through 47 so I will look forward to the level 48 one. (Maybe in time for summer holidays... Sooo much xp requirement...)

@gillybean2 that's great, the realisation has hit me that I still only have a limited number of eggs, so will wait until I've got someone else to go at the same time.

I'm really enjoying the current season, there's quite a few Pokémon which I got a few of in the autumn and then they vanished for the winter. None of them are terribly exciting, but it's nice to finally get a few more so I can evolve them. Also been waiting ages for 5 exeggcute for the meltan task and have got 4 in the last couple of days, so might be able to get that completed at last!

Only 342 more candies to evolve my Larvesta. Lots of walking and raids to do.

Failed to hatch the new whatsit from any of my event eggs, hatched another larvesta instead. So now a mere 325 odd required...

@thirdfiddle The odds weren't very good at all, I managed to hatch one from over 70 eggs. Now it's even worse as they are only in 10km eggs.

I churned through the eggs thanks to slow traffic on the way to work and lots of incubators and got 3 so was able to evolve both forms. Ds hasn’t got any yet but still has a couple of potential eggs to incubate.

The GPS on his phone doesn’t seem to trip out like mine does. I can easily hatch a 2km egg sat in the sofa of an evening while his phone doesn’t move an inch.

IMO these sort of events are purely to force incubators sales for those who suffer with fomo.

Hi I've just downloaded Pokémon Go after years of not playing and wow it's changed! I wondered if anyone wanted to add me 'jenz454' so I could have some friends please? I'm still finding my feet with it so any tips would be great. Am I right in saying you can give and get gifts with friends?

I started off on the previous thread asking for tips and ended up starting this one. Maybe you will start the next one . Here's my simple tip which you have probably remembered already: when you are catching a 'mon, the colour of the circle tells you how hard it will be to catch. You can change the colour by using berries or different pokeballs to make it easier. Best if the circle is green.

On a different note, anyone had trouble playing with their buddy? I keep getting error messages when I try.

Tip for friendship levels - you get a lot of XP (50000/100000) for going Ultra/Best Friends with someone. You can check how many interactions away you are from this - if you want to max out your XP you can save that final interaction for when you are using a lucky egg, to double the XP you receive for it. Quite a lot of people tend to use one on community days, which is a good time to try to level up!

@ISaySteadyOn my buddy won't work either. I've tried using DD's account on a different phone and get the same error message. My buddy has a gift I can't access, so even more annoying!

Very new to all this...how can you find where routes near you are?

If you tap on the little bar that shows you nearby Pokémon, it expands to a larger menu that has raids and routes at the top. If you tap on routes, it shows you near ones.

@ISaySteadyOn thank you for your tip about the circle, completely forgot it changes colour on difficulty. Can you tell me what a play party is and how I join one? It says I need a code

That's a new thing and you need to be physically with someone to do it. You can create a party and then you get given a code which you pass to your companions who you want to party with. Then you get given a choice of 3 tasks, pick one, do it, get a reward and then you get another 3 tasks to choose from and so on. You can, if you choose, keep doing that for a whole hour or you can stop and let it lapse. The party automatically ends after an hour.

However, if you do a raid while in a party, you do double damage which can be really useful.

DH looked this up. It's an issue for lots of people so hopefully Niantic will sort it out.

Just to help with the buddy thing, I have reported it as a bug to Niantic. You can do it by going to settings, help, chat with us, problems with adventure sync and buddy.

If enough of us (not on this thread, but players do) maybe they will have the impetus to fix it.

@ISaySteadyOn okay thank you for explaining, unfortunately, I don't know anyone else who plays it so I won't be able to use it. Can I ask how do you manage your Pokémon storage? Which Pokémon you keep? I tend to keep one of each or more if I can evolve them but is there any point to this?

I only keep the 3 star ones unless they are the only ones I have of that particular one. For example, I did some paid special research and have a two star Zarude. It's my only one so I am not getting rid of that. But I have a three star Koffing so if I catch a 1 star Koffing, I'll transfer it out.

Remember also you can get PokeCoins by putting Pokemon in gyms and then receiving coins when they get knocked out. Then you can purchase more storage with those coins. Hope that helps a bit.

When you go to a Pokémon you've caught and tap the three lines, then appraise, you'll see this! I've attached a 1 and a 3 Pokémon here - the closer to all bars being full, the better

You can also do a search for 3 and 4 star Pokémon in your collection. I use this and then stick a favourite star on them so I don't transfer by accident.
