New thread. No routes where I am. We're going to be at Pokémon Go Fest on 6 August. V excited.

@thirdfiddle I know it's a matter of them being in a raid/trade but I like Terrakions If they have decent attacks, not Earthquake or something lame like that. For beginning accounts then yep Hariyamas.

Thanks, I have a terrakion with sacred sword from last year, so might be worth some rare candy investment.

I am feeling very happy Pokémon wise today. DH, DD2 and I did a mega Kangaskhan raid together using the party function and it was great.

I thought maybe it might be fun to ask what everyone's first best buddy was. Mine was a female Machamp that I named Marnie.

I am finally one raid off completing my masterball research. It's been a lovely day and I've knocked out 6 raids, today - 5 of them one star, which are usually as rare as Ponyta shit, which has been much easier on my stash of revives than other recent efforts - after mega Garchomp and mega Kanga, plus Virizion, all of which I've duoed with DS2's account, I was reaching the point where I was powering stuff up to preserve revives because I was getting plenty of potions but far fewer revives.

Costumed Sneasel is way cool but I think I might have plenty of them, now.

First buddy... the first one on my buddy history is a vanillite, which i must have not liked very much as it has zero berries, zero km walked and was my friend for 0 days. First named one eevee called Bedtime which grew up into an umbreon. I still use it in GL, but should probably replace with one with a better profile.
Lol at your costumed sneasel collection PickaChew. I've got my masterball now, so of course haven't seen any legendary birdies with my daily incense since.

I'm also childishly amused at the developer's-eye-view of what constitutes a fashionable outfit. Shades and a beanie. Someone go inform the Style&Beauty forum.

DD 'helps' with my buddy choices, so my first was a rather useless wooper, that I'm not allowed to get rid of now.

I currently need to adventure with a pancham and a slowpoke to evolve them, but she has rejected both and teamed me up with a diglett which has no purpose. I'll sneak another one on when she goes to bed. 🤣

I had to switch buddies for a similar reason. But now DS has lost interest and DD2 has her own account. So I can have whatever buddy I want.

I am enjoying the Pikachu with flowery hat and sunglasses.

My first buddy was a Wailmer, for no particular reason that I can remember. The first one to make it to best buddy was my hundo Lucario, which I love.

I'm on level 41 now, so lots of Eevee buddies coming up!

She's only 4 so a way off having her own phone to play with, she just enjoys prodding all my Pokémon and seeing what they do!

And no bowler hat on the wooper, it was just a standard one with tiny combat power. Trouble is she likes small cute Pokémon and I'm trying to build a battle team!

I’m not entirely sure of my first best buddy. I have a feeling it was a snivy. I remember being particularly hacked off when I evolved that buddy and it’s best buddy ribbon vanished never to be seen again. All part of the endless bugs ‘teething problems’

Those wondering why you had a wailmer as a buddy, I did too. It needed 400 candy to evolve and I walked that thing for miles to get them. Same with my noibat and my original noivern is still my favourite best buddy despite everyone now having one since community day. I ran out at 1am to our nearby church to catch that thing when they were rare as ponyta shit to quote @PickAChew

Good luck with your master ball research PickAChew. Ds still has walking to do for his but as he doesn’t play any more and my mobility is still poor it’s taking me a while to get that done for him.

@gillybean2 You can click and then click 'see more,' on the top right in the pokemon search, then click 'buddies' and it shows your past/current buddies and you can show them by most recent etc.

It seems that mine was probably a Larvitar (is a Tyrannitar now.) I'm surprised as that as it's pretty sensible when you'dve thought we wouldn't know what we're doing at the start.

With buddies I would just walk one for candies then evolve and ignore. I think I ended up trading some in and I'm cursing that I did that now I have a "get 10 best buddies" task. I have one so far and just using whatever ones I've buddied up a little so it's a bit faster to get them right up, still taking forever though.

Oh that's true, I might've traded some past buddies, maybe there was a Rhyperior.

Useful to know about a future best buddy task if that's one that comes up eventually for everyone. I'll look after all the old ones.

I should really be more proactive about getting to best buddies. I only really go for it to the point of catch assist and the useful gifts then I stop trying or have all the candy/candy xl/ mega energy I'm wanting, by then, so switch buddies.

The nearby egg spawns have been infrequent and heavily biased towards flipping shadow articuno or whatever, today, but finally and absol spawned just as it was starting to get dark and I completed my 60 raids. 7 day streak, tomorrow and other research tasks saved up so I can use a lucky egg and star piece and claim everything.

@Tarkan , the best buddies task does take forever, I agree. If you have time, what I would do is get all the easier hearts (play, snapshot, 1 treat sequence, 3 battles) then swap out for the next buddy and repeat.

I still have some raids to go on the 60. 7 or 8, I think.

I'm thinking of levelling up today so if anyone is 1 away with Lilith, keep an eye out for xp from 2pm.

I never even thought of swapping them daily to do that, I'm such an idiot. I've just been doing one at a time so it's taking even longer. Thank you! Hopefully that will speed things up a bit for me.

I'm cutting it a bit fine with the Masterball research - still can't reliably throw an Excellent ball. But at least I find Furfrows easier to do them on.

Although I've got an official start date years ago from when I first made my account, I only really started playing some time into the master ball challenge. I realised a while ago I was never going to make the raids and I think I'll end up just off on excellent throws now. Hopefully there will be another!

Did anyone go to the pop up Poke Post stop in Edinburgh at the weekend? I’m wondering if it’s worth taking time off work to go to the London one which is on a weekday.

I assume they’ve done that to try and reduce the queues but judging by the pop up shop they had in London a few years ago they’ll be queuing from the night before….
