Switch question- can anyone help!?

My daughter has a switch and plays various games. She started originally with Animal Crossing but wants to online play but doesn't have any friends on there.
We have online membership as I've used it to visit Mumsnetter islands in the past.

My question is this, im thinking of getting my own switch (lite), downloading Animal Crossings, having the fun of starting from scratch again but also playing with her on both of our islands which I know she'll love.

Would that mean I need to pay for another online membership to play with her? I really am out of touch with all this! Too techy for me, Gameboys were far easier!

I have one online membership but have a switch and a lite. It works on both.

We have a family membership so we can visit each other’s islands. If you just have an individual membership then you won’t be able to visit other members of your family as only one can be online at any one time. I think the family was about £54.99 for the year when I got it and you could get the DLC for animal crossing and n64/megadrive oldies.
I signed up myself with my own email address and then dd’s with separate email addresses so each one has a Nintendo online separate account but all family linked :)

Also you will need 2 copies of animal crossing if you want to visit each other. Totally worth it though 😊

So just having a quick look at their prices online, it’s £31.99 for a years family membership (online only) which you can have up to 8 separate accounts. Alternatively it’s £59.99 for the online and expansion which contains the happy homes DLC , megadrive and n64 games and the Mario kart new tracks.
