CALLING ALL GAMERS - headset help?!

Father’s Day is fast approaching and this year we’re sharing it with my birthday - The issue is I find my DP very hard to buy for.. he loves his PS5 and his car - neither of which I have any experience in. However I have overheard him mention that his headset is rubbish, and he’s complained before (after playing for hours) that his ears are sore.. So lightbulb I thought that would be a decent Father’s Day gift from our kids, right? Right. But I have no idea what’s good and what’s not.

Thats where you come in. I need help finding a good headset, I don’t want to just buy one I think looks good by the description. I’d like to get one that real people have used and rate.

So please, headset recommendations! If it’s of any relevance he uses a PS5, games online with friends (as well as solo), and plays COD 99% of the time.

My DS games on his gaming PC a lot, he’s 19, I bought him cordless gaming headphones called Hyperx cloud flight, DS is very fussy about quality and he is really happy with them. They say they are the no 1 gaming headset brand in US. Can’t remember how much they cost, under £100 I think.

Things to check for are that they are compatible with the right console and whether or not they're wireless. Wireless are better TBH.

DH swears by turtle beach. But he has an Xbox so don't know if there's better for PS5. I have a Switch so I just use my phones handsfree set. Don't need anything too fancy with it 😁

Thanks all, I’ve checked his headset and he’s got one that’s actually supposed to be very good and cost quite a bit so now I’m doubting buying him one.. maybe he said an old one was rubbish 🙈😂 might try and slip it into conversation and do some digging!

They only last so long though, so even decent ones give up the ghost eventually. My ds has hyperx as well and they've lasted ages, for pc though.

For Ps5 you can't do much better than the official one. I have one and it's amazing

DS swears by Turtle Beach. He's tried other makes but says TB are the best all round.
