New xbox setup

DS is very lucky to be getting an Xbox x tomorrow can anybody please tell me about setup as I can't find the info on websites:

DS has a xbox account already that I can manage with parental controls. Do I sign in to the xbox with his account or my account? Also, he will have to buy games tomorrow as we blew his xmas budget on the console. Do we buy games on his account or my parent account?

Lucky DS!! You will sign into it with his account so long as you have parental controls (which you said you do) how are you planning on buying games? Has he got Xbox vouchers to use or will you be using your card?

Do you have a game pass for him? This is probably the better option if he doesn't have a lot of games. It is a monthly subscription for 1000s of games he can then install.

Depending on the games he wants, it might be more cost effective to buy the xbox game pass - gives you a whole library of games to play for about a tenner a month. That's what we will do to start with at least as looking at the library catalogue there are games there that the whole family want to play.

Definitely sign in as him and redeem any pass etc as him. Have you started it up and connected to the Internet yet? Sometimes they need to do a load of updates when you do before it can be used.

Thanks so much for the responses. He will get a gift voucher and will have to raid his piggy bank as well . We haven't done any setup yet, I've worked out that one can use the mobile Xbox app and the Xbox family app to manage the console so hope that is easy. DS only mentions one game he wants so thought game pass is not worth it but perhaps it is? I can't tell from the website whether there are enough games he would like and are ok for 12 years or younger.

So do I understand correctly that I sign in to the xbox as him and buy the game (possibly game pass) as his account? But then others can play it on the same console with their own account?
