Please can you tell me which console to buy for car mad DS6 please

My DS aged 6 is totally obsessed with fast cars and plays various games on ipad. He wants me to buy him a proper game machine with steering wheel.

I have tried to read up about it all but it's so confusing.
I don't want to spend loads.
In the end I was thinking about getting an xbox 360 or Xbox One with a seperate steering wheel.
Whatever I buy will be second hand off ebay though I will try to buy from a power seller that gives warranty.

He likes supercars, and definitley doesn't want mario Kart.
So I was thinking Forza Horozon or motorsport?
Are they too complicated for a 6 year old?

On the xbox 360 people seem to rave about Forza 4. But are 360's too old now?

Will the latest Forza games be too hard?

What would you do?

The 360's old but had a long life and you should still be able to find games for it.

The "Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia" wheel has decent reviews. Make sure any wheel you get is compatible with the console you get.

Xbox series s with game pass.

Forza 4 is on there as well as plenty of other racing games, and forza 5 will be on there in a couple of weeks.

Some cartoony racing games as well, my kids are similar ages and love it.

Forza is good as they use real cars not made up ones, my kids love driving their favourite cars, as well as my car on the game

Thank you. Xbox series S plus game pass is too expensive for me. Do you think I would be able to achieve a similar thing by getting an Xbox One and some used game discs off eBay? It looks like Forza 4 etc only run on the Xbox 360 or the series X/S as you mentioned. Will the Forza 6 and 7 games be okay on an Xbox One? I had heard that they aren't that good? Or will a young child be happy with them anyway?

DS has an Xbox One, which was bought new last year just before the latest generation models came out, but almost all of the games he plays on it have been secondhand discs from eBay - including Forza Horizon 4.

Oh that's good to know. I thought forza 4 didn't run on the Xbox one.

I am very, very far from a gaming expert but yes, you can get Forza Horizon 4 discs for Xbox One consoles. If you look on eBay you'll see several available now.

I only buy DS secondhand discs if they're labelled as suitable for Xbox One. He'd already played it (the console came with a month's free game pass) so I knew he liked the game a lot.

They are really confusing, aren't they. Researching which console to buy for his birthday last year was such a headache!
