Nintendo online family account question

Hi, hoping someone might know the answer to this as nintendo haven't replied to my emails and can't find a live chat option...I purchased nintendo online family when DSs both got Switches...presumed this meant when I bought a game on the nintendo eshop both of them would have access to it, but only 1 does. Is this correct? 🤔

Grateful for any answers

Depends on the game - animal crossing is one game per switch. It is also different if you buy games online - eg, we got Story of Seasons online so ended up buying a copy for each Switch but if we had bought the cartridge we would have only needed to buy it once. So if you are sharing it between consoles you are better off getting the cartridge.

I don't believe it does?

You can have multiple games on Animal Crossing, I believe, but you have to use the same switch. So, when I click on AC on DDs switch, it gives me the option of playing it as her or on my account, both have separate islands. But that's because we share a switch.

OK really appreciate your responses. Nintendo confuses me I believe we have one account and they are 2 different users on that account. Game builder garage is the most recent one, bought for DS1 but DS2 would like a go on his switch, doesn't seem possible. Thanks again

Games bought online are locked to the account used to purchase them, you can play them on a different switch if you sign in with the purchasing account but the second switch must be online and you can't play the same game on both at the same time.

Hi. Sadly, it is correct that you can't share games through the family online account. The way around this is to set up one Switch as the primary account for one person (the one whose account buys the games). The other Switch needs to have this person's profile added to it as well.
The second person can play the games owned by the first person if they play through that first person's profile on the second Switch.

The second Switch has to be connected to WiFi and the first Switch has to be on flight mode if they both want to play downloaded games at the same time.

Hope that helpsSmileConfused It's quite complicated but it works for us.

But then they couldn't play together, if that's the plan, as the cartridge has to be in the console.

AFAIK game downloads aren't transferable between accounts. The family account is for use of online services only.

Thanks, gosh it is confusing! @StillinMyPJs sounds like a plan.

I think the reason I can play DDs games on my profile is because our accounts are linked on the switch as I'm the parent account, she isn't old enough for her own. I download adult games using my profile but she can't play them due to the parental controls. When I want to play my games by clicking my profile I have to turn the parental controls off first.
