I’m torn between buying a second hand one or hoping they might occasionally be cheaper in a reputable shop in case any problems! Are they generally long lasting and reliable?
Many thanks

i recently got a new phone contact with virgin which came with a free switch. might be worth looking into if your needing a new phone upgrade soon x

You might find a bundle deal with a cheaper game or a free case
I would avoid second hand as the joycons go wrong

I’d also avoid second hand, as a games console they are great and I would recommend them but the controllers are poor and fail often. Or buy a console second hand and buy 2 new controllers if that works out cheaper. Never any offers always games bundles or free case etc as previously stated.

Agree with PP watch out for the joycon with second hand.
A friend bought a new second hand (prob unwanted upgrade gift) it was new but only £15! cheaper.
Might be better brand new with the guarantee.

I bought one for teen ds in sainsburys with a good deal on an extra game and bonus nectar points.

One controller was faulty within a year but Nintendo did repair it for free. The other one is a bit glitchy now but he puts up with it. I'm not impressed with how un-durable it is for an expensive bit of tech tbh. He really looks after it too.

This is excellent and useful advice, thank you so much . I’m amazed you can get one free With a virgin phone! Though my iPhone is pay as you go at £7.50/ month so It may not save me money to change, I will check though.
Thank you all!

Deals come and go throughout the year. Do you use HotUKDeals? I checked it for a couple of weeks before I found a price I was happy to buy it for (from Smyths, of all places): www.hotukdeals.com/tag/nintendo-switch

Check out your local supermarkets, they often have good deals with decent game bundles.
