What Xbox?

If you were buying an Xbox, what would you recommend please. Please speak to me as if I am 5 years old! This is for DS birthday in August. He has an old one but it’s on its last legs.

Which Xbox does he currently have? It's probably an Xbox One X/S or is it an older Xbox 360?

The new ones which were released last year are:
Xbox Series X - brand new, fast, good graphics
Xbox Series S - digital version of the X, so no discs you download everything

I currently have an Xbox One and will be getting a Series X when it falls apart, but both of the above new ones are sold out everywhere. I don't want digital only because you can't take advantage of cheaper second hand games/Amazon prices you are tied into the online store prices (although the console is cheaper).
