I got this for Christmas and I’m in love. Is there a thread/community etc I could join?

I’m usually an AIBU inhabitant so this is a bit new...

Was it the clothes shop? If you choose not to wear the clothes then they're shipped to your home storage (at least they are when you're on your own island).

Nook's Cranny should go straight to your pockets.

How do you do the rock garden ?
It's quite a task! It involves first breaking all your rocks, then covering every possible patch they could spawn in with something to block them (easiest way to do this is with custom design mannequins) other than the spaces you want them to be in, then either waiting 6 days (and hoping you haven't missed anywhere they could spawn) or cheating like me, and time-travelling a day at a time into the future. Then you clear whatever it is you've used to cover the rest of your ground.

I'd missed so many spots I had to travel forward about 3 weeks by the time I'd got all 6 in place! Confused

Then I just time travel back to today's date!

Yeah to say it's an effort is an understatement! I refuse to time travel so it's taken me nearly a week now. I destroyed all my rocks and then covered every spare inch of the island in a custom path (apart from where I wanted my rocks) so that they couldn't spawn anywhere else. It took FOREVER!!! I may shed a tear when that final rock appears. Grin

Last time I did it I went to bash my rocks a couple of days later and didn't realise I had a piece of eaten fruit 'left' so smashed the first one I hit to smithereens. I could have cried Sad

Unhelpful now, but possibly in the future: did you know that you can get rid of fruit that you've eaten but which are now surplus to requirements by sitting on a toilet?

I bought a microwave in the shop earlier and they took my bells but it took longer than usual for the item to show, but I did get it eventually

I dug up a bell tree yesterday to replant by my house and it disappeared, wasn't in my pockets, never appeared. Was gutted.
