My First time playing Among Us

My DS is a big gamer but more into things like Dark Souls etc but he decided I might like to join him and his friends playing Among us, it was hilarious, and I have become addicted. He videoed an edited version of the game, I don't think I did bad for my first attempt, really good for this socially distanced times when we cant see family, We used a group Zoom call to be able to discuss who we suspected of being the murderer.

Brilliant - thanks! My kids love it too but I need a gentle introduction like this video, first Grin

BikeRunSki · 26/09/2020 22:28

Fab, ds(12) has been saying he wants to play this. Looks fun!

Jenasaurus · 28/10/2020 20:08

It is brilliant fun, very addictive though :)

Much loved in our house - I hate to say I find it tricky to even move myself about when I had a go Blush

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 02/11/2020 01:46

Its a firm favourite here. I often hear squeals of laughter and lots of protesting along the lines of "I'm not an imposter! I promise you I'm not" coming from DCs bedrooms when they play with friends
We play with family over zoom every few weeks too. My mum has almost got the hang of it Grin

Buffyfan88 · 02/11/2020 02:00

Maybe I'll master how to use the little circle to manoeuvre myself eventually ConfusedGrin

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 02/11/2020 02:03

The little circle is like an old fashioned joystick, you use your finger to control it. Although there is a different setting, so you just press and hold on the screen and your little person walks towards your finger. I prefer that setting.

Buffyfan88 · 02/11/2020 02:15

I prefer the Roblox style movement.
I'll have a look though for when the kids pester me to play!
I must say most of these games give me a sore head and make me feel sick after more than 15 minutes playing that's my whack 😂

D00MGL00M · 02/11/2020 02:16

There's a much easier control setting than the circle thing. The other setting you tap where you want to move to.

GalaxyCookieCrumble · 02/11/2020 02:27

My youngest plays this with all his friends, I cannot see the obsession with it but he enjoys it!

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 02/11/2020 02:30

Love this game. Play with the dc a lot

Great game for the family, although some of the comments are sometimes a bit Hmm But it is lots of fun!

Jenasaurus · 07/11/2020 22:16

My son is now trying to get me to play Dark Souls, but just watching him play is hard enough.

This is him on his 9th attempt

Dark Souls is horrendous :D One mistake and you're screwed. LOVE Among Us though. Had a very amusing night last night on comms with friends playing a vodka shot version of it - very very good fun. Less good with randoms who leave, get abusive, etc

Jenasaurus · 08/11/2020 18:19

My son has issue with the rats in Dark souls as you may have noticed :)

I agree about the among us being a better experience with friends and family rather than strangers. A totally different experience, also there are a lot of hackers out there. I played one game and the impostor killed everyone simultaneously, literally one minute in and we were all floating around as ghosts.

We could have a mumsnet game one night, someone start a private game and share the code for the room on here. What do you think?

I've just recently branched out into playing 'public' games with strangers. My word. They can get quite angry! I've just been called a fucking cunt because I politely declined to swap colours with someone Confused
I've also recently been voted off as imposter when I pointed out that the person they were accusing was dead. Apparently the only way I would know that would be if I killed them.
I've also been voted off for not talking enough ( I had nothing to say as hadn't seen anything) and also for talking too much.
I know that's the way the game goes, but it seems critical thinking is lacking in some games and people are quick to vote on one person's say so. Personally I like some evidence and for the accused to defend themselves so we don't vote off team mates!

Having seen the language that gets thrown about, some of which gets past the filter with clever spelling, I'm amazed that some of my friends allow their primary aged children to play!

Omg, the being voted off for pointing out the accused was dead, I get that. The worst one is when someone calls a meeting and says nothing, then get voted off and dont understand why
