Help please - Wii

Apologies; I'm totally inexperienced in this area, hoping someone can help.

I've recently bought a used Wii console off eBay for my daughter (hoping some of the sports / dancing games can keep her entertained during lockdown).

Console arrived today and is all plugged in. Console turns on and looks ok, but I'm struggling with the remote / controller. I've managed to sync it to the console, but only a couple of buttons seem to work, meaning we can't even get off the main menu.

Any ideas what we could do to try and get it working? Or have I bought a faulty model?

Did it just come with one controller? If two does the other one work? If only one then I'd be tempted to buy another in the hope it's just a problem with the controller. Then maybe get some money back from EBay.

Enjoy the wii! We've had ours for about 15 years and it's still going strong!

Thanks. There was only one controller with it @thisislovelyme

There seem to be lots of non-branded controllers on Amazon, but expected delivery isn't until mid May; the used Nintendo ones on eBay cost over half of what I paid for the whole console.

I've got a horrible feeling that I could spend a small fortune trying to get this working 😥

It's been a while since I used the wii but are you pointing the controller at the screen/is the sensor up? This might help?

The remote works on a sensor, you should have a small bar to put across the top of your tv, then you have to point your remote at the tv and a little hand should come on and you control it through that. Sorry that's not a great explanation but hopefully you get what I mean! You could try YouTube for a tutorial?

Ok, I'm just really daft sometimes! Wire for the sensor bar was loose at the back; pushed it all the way in and working well now. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Glad you got it sorted! Smile
