Xbox or a switch

We’re thinking of getting a console for Xmas as a family gift. We’re not sure if a switch or Xbox would be better? We have a 12, 6 and 2year old and want something the whole family can enjoy together. (Obviously the 2 year old is more as he gets older)

We have the switch and we love it

My two children (4 and 6) really enjoy it too.

It is expensive, and the games are too but they are fun.

If you want to play a game as a family of 4, you have to buy more controllers but once you’ve done that, it’s easy to set it all up

My ds is 6 and loves the Xbox. He plays the lego games and some driving games. He's really getting the hang of them now.
I'm interested to hear about the switch though as he has asked for one for Xmas. The Xbox was his dad's and we have had it for 5 years so might be time for an upgrade

For 12 year old xbox or ps4 depending on what friends have, to play online with friends. I wouldn't recommend an xbox for younger than 9ish, but I don't know the switch, ds had a Wii when younger.

We've got both, the Switch is used every day and the Xbox has been played maybe 5 times in 3 years.

I find Nintendo do many more family games whereas Xbox seem to aim their games towards teenage boys and there's a heck of a lot of car racing and fighting games.

The Switch is very handy to be passed around so everyone can have a turn plus you don't have to rely on having a TV as it can be played handheld.

You can play the games online for a small yearly subscription, Overcooked 2 is fun and also Splatoon 2.

Zelda Breath of the Wild is a great game too.

I think the Xbox is more suited to the 12 year old whereas the switch is more family friendly and has better multiplayer options. I would choose the switch.
