He's not bombed us yet either, which I'm secretly relieved about. If DS had found a bombed photo from two days ago it would not have been a such a peaceful breakfast.

Got my Smeargle this morning. It seems to pop up on the first photo or not at all - so it seems to be pointless to take 10 pictures of the same pokemon in the hope it'll be in picture 7 or 8.

You can get one smeargle a day. Completely random why and how it’ll pop up. Took me 25 photos seen it take someone else 250. It also can run away! It copy’s the moveset of the Pokemon you photographed

Someone just posted this on our WhatsApp group thread:

  1. The chance of Smeargle photobomb is based on per photo SESSION. Not on per photo taken. This means if you snap the first pic, and he's not in it, exit the photo session and try again.
  2. It is not based on any particular pokemon. Completely RNG and chance.
  3. It's not based on how you take the picture or how many pictures were taken. Smeargle always photobombs the first picture of a photo session. (Refer to #1)
  4. Smeargle will inherit the moves (fast/charged) of the pokemon you snapped a picture of. This includes LEGACY MOVES. It CANNOT learn Transform via Ditto
  5. Smeargle will inherit the weight and height of the pokemon you snapped a picture of. (XL/XS)
  6. Smeargle can't be weather boosted like Meltan (as of now, but can change in future).
  7. Smeargle can run away (careful with pinaps)! And can be caught once per day via the same method (resets at 12 AM local time).
  8. Smeargle will spawn for exactly 1 hour from the geographic position you snapped the photo.
  9. You do not need to check your gallery and review photos. You can see his head in the photo circle in the corner and the circle will pulsate if he indeed photobombed you.

Does everyone have AR+ activated? I didn’t whiles trying for my second then turned it on and it worked. Maybe that’s why.

No need for AR+. Some people who have it have turned it off for speed.

Finally! Just over 30 photos. It takes ages to even get the Pokemon to appear in the first place before getting a single photo.
