May I ask a really stupid question (first of many no doubt!)? What influences which Pokémon turn up? I know weather plays a part, but is it also connected to Geographical Location and Trainer Level? Or anything else?
BellaGoth It’s not possible to be related to trainer level as everyone sees the same Pokemon (but obviously if you’re under level 30 it won’t be the same CP/IV as everyone’s over level 30).
Each individual Pokemon has a biome, so for example predictably a water type Pokemon will spawn in a water biome spawn point, and they are usually found near bodies of water.
Along with that, each individual Pokemon has a spawn rate determining how rare it is. So Whismur’s spawn rate is exceptionally high, while Slakoth’s is very rare.
So even on a water biome spawn point, I think the chances of a Dratini spawning there are 2%.
The science behind it is complex, but to simplify, if you live near water you’ll likely encounter lots of water Pokemon, similarly you’ll encounter loads of fire Pokemon if you go to somewhere like Lanzarote.
