The movesets really make the game interesting, don't they?
I did an experiment this morning. I took over the nearest gym this morning on the way to work. There was a snorlax and a dragonite both in the 3,000s, and some random under 200 pokes which I discounted. I googled over breakfast and put together my own posse, which I then used for the first set of battles, but went with the recommended for the rest.
My piloswine with avalanche was super effective against the dragonite, and my machamp was the same against the snorlax. Unfortunately the piloswine didn't last long but I can see why you'd use a manoswine if you had one.
The game put in an aggron and magnetites which resulted in a slow and painful battle!

My Pokémon aren't quite that bad!

I think the point is more to do with the guy's attitude towards Baroness.

BaronessBomburst Yeah, a lot of people don’t realise how crucial the right movesets really are! Even with the more powerful Pokemon, if your moveset is poor they’re virtually useless.

Just a quick heads up about Battle Parties, there was something in the data mine about them possible being temporarily deleted for the new update, so if you make one, screenshot it so you can just remake it again after the update hits

I only have two battle parties at the moment, one for Alolan Marowak and the other for Alolan Raichu, but I’ve screenshot them for ease of remaking them again.

OMG I FINALLY caught a Cubone!! (I know you were all VERY concerned about this, so obviously I had to update you.)

Having been surrounded by Omanytes, Lileeps and Anoriths this morning, now that I've actually caught a sodding Cubone to progress to the next Meltan level, of course there are no Omanytes or Anoriths anywhere to be seen. #firstworldproblems

Ohhh ok apparently it's only level 40 trainers and up first of all... then they'll roll it out to lower levels later

Tink I think it's updated on the system but not yet been rolled out to players. Niantic seem to update on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'd expect it to start rolling out to level 40 players tomorrow or early next week, then trickle down to the rest of us plebs

Wailmer, do you think an Alolan Raichu raid is soloable without legendaries?? Its the only L3 raid I haven't solo'd this rotation, but I haven't had the opportunity to try yet.

If it helps, I solo'd a Gengar with Shadow Ball today, but by the skin of my teeth!!

Mona if you check in Pokegenie it can tell you if you can win a raid or not

I've soloed an Alolan Raichu before but I might have had Suicune.... can't remember....but I think it's doable. However I am definitely not an expert and I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong as usual

I tried that, and it gave me a 50/50 chance I'm trying to stack the odds a bit more in my favour!

Yeah I have a few legendaries from the research rewards, but nothing powered up enough to be truly useful, and when I check the 'best team' option on PokeGenie it's always my T'tars that are recommended!!

MonaChopsis That depends on how good your Pokemon are (IV wise), whether or not they’re powered up, the movesets they have and if the Alolan Raichu is weather boosted.

I would firstly recommend not doing it when it’s weather boosted.

My personal solo battle party for Alolan Raichu is two Tyrannitar (one 100%, the other 96%), two Groudon (one 96%, one 94%) and a 91% Mewtwo.

The Tyrannitars you use should have Bite/Crunch for Alolan Raichu, and with no legendaries I’d go next to Gengar with Shadow Claw or Lick/Shadow Ball, then Houndoom with Snarl/Fast Play.

It’s worth setting up a battle party and just trying it; you get a free pass every day after all

I do have to add in the caveat that Suicune is the worst legendary going (shouldn’t really be a legendary tbh) so I wouldn’t include it in any party or raid you ever do

For tips on counters I use ~Go Ranger, it recommended I use T'tar x2 with Bite/Crunch, Groudon with Mud Shot/Earthquake, Gengar with Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball Mewtwo with Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball and Absol with Snarl/Dark Pulse. I used about 11/2 T'tars. It was the 1st time I'd tried soloing a Tier 3 raid, and it wasn't as hard as i thought it'd be.

I can solo a buizel with an Alakazam.

Here's my T'tar crew... I have no Groudons, no Shadow Ball Mewtwos. I have a decent Absol and a couple of Gengars which are good (one lick/shadow ball).

I will try when I can, but it's not as easy as pick a gym, any gym. There's none where I live and two within waking distance from my work, but I can only get to them during lunch. Some days I can't do any raids at all, so far I've never been free during a A-Raichu raid.
