@BaronessBomburst I'm so sorry that happened to you and your DS. Whenever I'm with my friends I look to the littlies and tell them to play the game their way, but if they want advice they should just ask. So they do and I pass them on to somebody who knows what they're doing. :o

Baroness, I'm level 40 and have far from perfect teams for everything but would still expect to carry a level 31 player to some extent. The guy's being an arse and has probably transferred dozens of a-marowak already.

BaronessBomburst I thought you said you were using recommended? Because your recommended is very rarely ever your best team. It doesn’t take into account all the factors (movesets and types of your Pokemon and the raid boss, weather etc).

It’s a shame he reacted like that though. I would expect to carry any player under level 35, but especially 31. I have successfully completed Alolan Marowak raids with three before when one was lower 30s so it could be this man isn’t as clued up as he thinks he is.

The only difference between my recommended and the one PokieGenie suggested was a vaporeon instead of a cloyster. When I googled further to check for top counters, I don't have them. I used my tyranitars, houndooms and a sudowowoo.
And yes, we saw on the group app that he went on to do several T5 raids.
He's also the one that starts putting shouts out for raids before 7am. He doesn't get much response.
I'll see him on Friday for the ExRaid.

DH and I have both been stuck on the "Catch a Cubone" task. Last night, he pops to the shops.... and does an Alolan Marowak raid WITHOUT ME.

BaronessBomburst Yeah, if you don’t have the top counters with only three of you wouldn’t have been able to do it.

Thing is though, even with Tyrannitar, if the Pokemon don’t have optimal movesets tailored to defeat Alolan Marowak then they become virtually useless too. This is why movesets are so important; they can make or break a battle.

If you used your Vaporeon, it should have Water Gun/Hydro Pump, and the Tyrannitar’s you used should have been Bite/Crunch or Smack Down/Stone Edge, depending on if you have the legacy move. Last but not least (because we can discount Sudowoodo entirely; it’s useless), Houndoom should have had Snarl/Foul Play.

Those are, of course, the optimal movesets for Pokemon raiding Alolan Marowak, and not necessarily the best movesets for that Pokemon overall. Hence the importance of having several of the same high powered Pokemon (Gyarados, Tyrannitar, Dragonite etc.) with a couple of different movesets to cover as many bases as possible.

Even if all the Pokemon above that you used had the optimal movesets, you probably would still have struggled (and I think probably failed unfortunately) taking into account all the other factors too.

I think the point is more to do with the guy's attitude towards Baroness.
