Are metagross actually any good?

I got 3 shinies and they're all utterly crap.

I already had a couple of lucky beldum waiting to evolve, though. DS1 and I traded our high cp but crap catches with each other in hope of something better. Even if they didn't end up useful, it meant that we squeezed an extra candy out of getting rid of each one.

Metagross with meteor mash are very good. It's similar to frenzy plant in the way it works.

I quite enjoyed that. I caught 3 shinies, none of which is over 70%. None of the other Beldum I caught were any good either, so they got minced. I evolved my best one (87%), and my best shiny (69%) to Metagross.

I got out for the last hour of the event but had managed to catch two (rubbish) shinies from home first. 4 shiny in total, nothing amazing IVwise but enough to evolve a few.

My first ever shinies caught earlier. Just over 2000 Pokemon caught in total and my first ever shinies today from the first community day I got out to do.

I caught loads and loads (went from less than 100 candies to over 1000!) but didn't catch any with IV in the 90s! Evolved 5 anyway (four high level 70s, one solitary mid level 80s) and a fairly average shiny. Happy to have them, but gutted I couldn't find anything high IV at all!

However did 4 Mewtwo raids, maintaining my 50% catch rate, and wandered past an Absol raid on the way home so got one of those too!

I was at a wedding today so didn’t manage the full three hours like I usually hope for, but I got 8 shinies so I was happy with that

dillite Yes! Metagross is Gen III’s Tyrannitar; it’s an incredibly strong Pokemon with Meteor Mash.

Beldum has been a coveted one to watch Pokemon since Gen III came out.

My pants shiny. It has either zero attack or defense. It's beautiful, all the same.

I'm happy with this for a shiny. My shinies are usually utterly pants.

What do people mean when they talke about gen 4 ‘starters’ pleas?

Efferlunt In the original Pokemon games, Starter Pokemon are the three Pokemon you get to choose from when you first start a Pokemon game (one grass, one water, one fire).

So for Red and Blue (Gen I) you could choose Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle as your first Pokemon to start the game off with.

For Gold and Silver (Gen II) the starters were between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile and for Ruby and Sapphire (Gen III) the starters were Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip.

Gen IV derives from Diamond and Pearl and when starting the game you get a choice between Piplup, Chimchar and Turtwig; hence they are the Gen IV starters

My shinies today were horrendous, as usual. 63% iv was my best. Ho hum!

Looking forward to the next announcement. I’m hoping for ralts.

I didn’t really get the chance to play much today so no shinies for me. I at least managed to hatch 2 decent Beldum I had so I have meteor mash.

I’ll be in London for the next one so hoping for lots of spawns! Can any Londoners advise a good spot? I have a train leaving Euston early evening. Is Covent Garden any good?

I did OK at the Community Day today (3 not particularly good shinies) and caught one 100% Beldum but with just 265 CP and only level 11.

Now my question is - do I evolve him? Normally I wouldn't if it was such a low level, but with it being a powerful 'mon, I'm in two minds?

Well, if you evolve him now, he won't have meteor mash.

GreenShadow I would have in a second during community day hours as he would have had Meteor Mash, but I would think twice about it now without that special move.

GreenShadow It’s still a 100%, and it’s still Metagross, so it’s still a powerful Pokemon (I am very jealous!). So while I would umm and ahh about it, I probably would evolve due to it being such a good Pokemon, even without Meteor Mash.

If you have a lot of Beldum candies, or even lots of spare rare candies, I’d say it’s probably worth it to evolve and power up

DH took my phone with him for a walk yesterday and came back having won me a Mewtwo! I might have done a happy dance, had all but resigned myself to never being able to complete my gen 1 dex.
Also managed to get this, so all in all a good day!

I finally got my MewTwo yesterday on community day, yass!!

TakeaChancey all of London is good really - even Euston station itself has about 10 pokestops and a gym.
There's a meet up at Kew Gardens for each community day. Closer to Euston though you've got Regents Park in walking distance plus lots of nice squares and smaller parks. Or if weather is bad just get a bus and spin and catch em all!
