What information am I not putting in? I enter the appraisals that the woman gives me and check that hp and all that has been read by the app. Is there anything else that needs putting in?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/11/2018 20:51

If all the information is input correctly, along with the info on your account being correct (trainer level), you should not be getting several possible IV combinations. 85% isn’t a correct IV for that Pokemon because it doesn’t know it’s correct IV - there are too many variables.

The IVs don’t change (it’s not even possible); the information is either not input or not read correctly. If it doesn’t know (and you can tell it doesn’t by the number of combinations), it gives you an average of the range in which it is is.

Hi hakuna I'm podsy and would like to coordinate best friends and lucky eggs if possible please? Are you boulebaker or maldice ?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 09:06

Happy Cyndaquil Day everyone! Don’t forget your star pieces every half an hour to maximise star dust.

Since we have a lot of new players to the thread, I’ll share how I play my community day to maximise catching. I play in a small town setting, so while not overrun with stops like a city, there are plenty to keep us going.

For every Cyndaquil I catch, I will quickly appraise it. If it isn’t a wonder (or simply amazes/battle with the best for red/yellow) I transfer it immediately. This means that at the end of the event when deciding what to evolve it makes it a lot easier as I only have the best to deal with and not have to sift through loads of crap.

I also pop a lucky egg, a star piece and an incense on every half an hour (if you’re likely to forget when they run out, a good tip is to set an alarm). I also pinap all low CP ones.

Now we have the hour after the event to evolve, it makes it a lot less stressful!

Happy playing everyone Smile

I don't understand how some people are 'stacking' research tasks? I only ever have 3 at a time. I don't get a new one until I claim the reward.

HakunaRattatas · 10/11/2018 10:43

@tumpymummy I'm malidice. When would suit you? This afternoon would be good for me but I definitely won't open the gift until I hear from you.

Also another shout out for RedLottie and Binky9999

MrsJamin · 10/11/2018 10:58

I was out just now and was surprised how few cyndaquils were around, anyone else found the same?

BaronessBomburst · 10/11/2018 11:38

Yes, there's not many here and a incenser only gave me four more Pokémon than spawned for DS, although one was a cyndaquil.
It's miserable weather so we're Pokémoning from the sofa until we run out of balls.

tumpymummy · 10/11/2018 11:51

@hakuna i could do anytime between 2.30 and 4pm today? You have the gift so please let me know so I can put a lucky egg on.

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 12:08

tumpymummy Once you claim a research task with an encounter reward it takes you to the catch screen, you can run from the encounter and it will then stay there so you can go in and catch the Pokemon later. As the actual reward has been claimed, although not caught, there will be space to get another task.

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 12:16

Wailmer What else do I need to input to get one IV value for this one. I've attached 2 screen shots, one before appraisal and one after, they both give quite a few IV possible combinations. I've also found that these can refine one way or another on evolution. I use Poke Genie for Android. Thanks for your help.

I caught a lot when I went out a second time. This is the best CP one I have, no IV over 70% Sad. Should I just evolve this for the special move or just hold onto all the candy to evolve something in the future? Will it be better for a typhlosion to have the special move or be a higher IV/CP?

Caught 5 Shinies!

Cyndaquil Community Day Statistics and Analysis

I caught seven shinies, one which I evolved to shiny Typhlosion, one to shiny Quilava, and the others stayed as shiny Cyndaquil.

Before the event my personal stats were:

XP: 1,997,113
Dust: 3,285,984
Cyndaquil Seen: 71
Cyndaquil Caught: 59

After the event my personal stats are:

XP: 2,840,298
Dust: 3,425,282
Cyndaquil Seen: 279
Cyndaquil Caught: 249

I gained 843,185 XP
I gained 139,298 dust
I saw 208 Cyndaquil
I caught 190 Cyndaquil
18 Cyndaquil ran

I played the whole three hours meaning I caught 0.94 Cyndaquil per minute, which is pretty good.

Overall, while I had an excellent day in terms of XP, dust and number of shinies, the Cyndaquil I did catch were all poor IVs (highest 84%). Thankfully Typhlosion is not a Pokemon I ever use in battle anyway so it’s no great loss Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 14:12

TrashPanda If a Pokemon is a low level (under 20) or CP, PokeGenie will find it a lot harder to get an accurate IV result and give you several IV combinations.

IVs don’t change after evolution; it’s not possible. What’s happening is that PokeGenie may have a more accurate mathematical structure to go on after a Pokemon is powered up or evolved and thus the ability to see the correct IV (or a more accurate one if you still have multiple IV combinations) is present.

If you ever have more than one possible IV combination, that’s because PokeGenie doesn’t know the true IV and is only estimating. If you then evolve and get a different IV, that is not the IV changing because that is impossible, that is PokeGenie being able to read the stats more clearly.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 14:12

MrsJamin It’s irrelevant really. Typhlosion isn’t a Pokemon worth powering up or using in battle so either is fine.

PickAChew · 10/11/2018 14:32

7 day streak day, for me, today. And I have a nice little rabble of firefarters, too.

dillite · 10/11/2018 14:35

We couldn't do community day as my MOT failed and I was busy searching for the necessary part. But still, 50 cyndaquil were caught, 5 shiny, best shiny 79% and best normal 98% but only 78CP. Got enough candy to evolve 2 so evolved 2. Didn't find the necessary car part though.

BaronessBomburst · 10/11/2018 15:28

I caught my last cyndaquil with a silver pinap, earning enough candies to evolve, at 13:59! In fact, the church bell struck as it was wriggling in the ball. Shock
So I have my typhlosion. I also caught two shines.
But more importantly, I caught an abra and evolved my lucky kadabra! Grin
And I've since changed his fast move to confusion. Smile

I don't like Kricketot, oh no, I love it, yeah
TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 15:36

Is there another more accurate way to check IV then, other than Poke Genie?

PickAChew · 10/11/2018 15:49

There's calcy IV, as well.

Pokegenie gives you all the possible IVs based on the cp, hp, stardust needed to evolve and so on. You need to use it in conjunction with the appraisal, as that is invisible to it. The IV that it gives is an average, based on all the possible combinations of attack, defense and hp, so, if the appraisal says its attack is best, that helps you to narrow down which value is likely to be correct.

Just using the headline average value would explain why some people are seeing an apparent change in IVs upon evolving.

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 16:06

I definitely put in the appraisal. I think I get it now Blush The IV value doesn't change but the only way it can be found is sometimes can't get an accurate answer so picks the average. So it looks like it's changing as there's not another way to check more accurately Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 18:09

So it looks like it's changing as there's not another way to check more accurately

Yes, that’s it exactly Smile I never have this problem though; but that could be because I only put Pokemon into PokeGenie that are worth it (so no low CP or low levels with the exception of shinies).

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 19:22

Yep, I only appraise 'battle with the best of them', shinies or 7 day research rewards.
