The new and updated version of Theme Hospital.

Please tell me that someone else out there is playing.

No, but I watched a video of Clare Callery playing it tonight. Not usually my cup of tea, I usually watch her play the Sims, but was pleasantly surprised how fun it looked :)

ScrunchyBook · 01/09/2018 15:09

I didn't realise it was out yet?
I'm currently playing Planet Coaster on the PC but will definitely get it, I loved Theme Hospital

umdont · 03/09/2018 10:56

How is it??

SausageOnAFork · 03/09/2018 12:33

Just like the original, but better.

I have it and I am enjoying it so far. It is familiar enough to just jump straight back into but fresh enough to keep my attention

JLG19 · 06/09/2018 13:10

O. M. G. I'm going to find this and play it AS SOON AS I GET HOME Grin

umdont · 09/09/2018 08:37

My parent is shocked it costs £25 but he just doesn't understand !

Had house to myself for a while yesterday and spent about 5 hours on it :) eventually got stuck on research hospital.

Yes! It's brilliant. DH pirated it so we could try it out, but I love it so much I'm going to buy it - they can have my money.

It's fantastic, honestly. The little details are spot on. There is nothing which feels skipped over or rushed - even things like the little eye test poster has funny text. It runs smoothly. The humour is just my bag. They even have the same voice actor for the announcements which I'm glad about as it's hard to imagine a better fit. And is it the actor who plays Death from Horrible Histories who does the radio DJ stuff? That amuses me too.

It reminds me of a time when games were fun rather than trying to be popular or streamer-friendly.

The only thing I would like is an option to clone rooms. Making 20 identical GPs' offices is a ballache.

JLG19 · 09/09/2018 11:54

Love it Grin I've been playing it a little obsessively since I got it.

AnythingConsidered · 09/09/2018 11:57

DH is playing it now and I'm familiarising myself with the game again before I take over in an hour or so!!

Control looks good, treatments are funny as ever, graphics look fab, though the music is a little irritating!!

SpoonBlender · 11/09/2018 10:30

It's great - it doesn't try to be a massive evolution of Theme Hospital, it's more a loving remake than an update. This does make it a little easy compared to other modern manage-a-thing games, but that's fine by me! Some of the developers worked on the original Theme Hospital, and they've not lost their touch. It is a joy.

£21 at Voidu for a Steam key.

Yes - I think actually the further I get into it, I'd like a difficulty setting (it's too easy at the default) - just some tougher fail conditions, to force me to manage certain things better, since at the moment it doesn't really matter how crap you are at certain things, and the only thing I've got a warning about ever is money. And I didn't even fail on that because I just increased my prices to cover it and while my reputation tanked, it didn't seem to matter. Likewise I can have very poor cure rates and nothing bad happens - I just wait for the money/cures to slowly increase to get the stars I need.

I'd like some more streamlined controls, too, like being able to set a queue limit, assign a specific staff member to a room, maybe change the priority order of queues (it seems to be first come first served, but I'd love them to queue in order of closeness to death and often spend my time rotating through queues to do this manually) and things like being able to assign a dual-purpose room (ward, psychiatry, DNA, etc) to diagnosis or treatment, or block patients from rooms if they don't meet a criteria - like assigning only some GP offices near the beginning of the hospital for patients who are not yet diagnosed at all, because right now I can't figure out the logic for where they are sent and they all seem to spend months traipsing around the hospital and then die. Confused

BertieBotts · 11/09/2018 22:16

I think, though, that this is likely to be where mods will come in, so I'm happy to play through on the current settings and then later try it with mods :)

Narya · 11/09/2018 22:18

Its on my Steam wishlist but I haven't taken the plunge yet!

juneybean · 11/09/2018 22:18

But is there still bloaty head?

AdventuresRUs · 11/09/2018 22:19

Ooooh i loved theme hospital. I dont currently have anything to play it on my self though!!! Live on my phone at the moment.

mermaidsandunicorns · 11/09/2018 22:51

I was horribly addicted to theme hospital back in the day and am loving two point hospital. I love the new illnesses miss the bloaty head days 😂

SausageOnAFork · 12/09/2018 17:54

assign a specific staff member to a room

You can assign staff to certain rooms but you can assign them to certain types of room.

So.... if i bought a normal basic laptop could I run this!? I may get one sooner rather than later.... Ive only got tablet and phone at the moment and gusband has the laptop!!

BertieBotts · 12/09/2018 18:26

Probably not, realistically you'd need a graphics card and a decent CPU.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 12/09/2018 18:31

I have a serious ghost problem! 👻

AdventuresRUs · 12/09/2018 18:59

:( boo hiss. I played the first one and all the theme series on my old computer :(
