I managed an 87% moltres. Notuch use without a lot more candy to beef it up, though.

Moltres is a great fire Pokemon surpassing Flareon, but fire Pokemon aren’t used that much at this stage, so there are lots I’d power up before it.

Yep. And one of true batches of passes was given to people from a raid I was at. Hey ho. There's always next wave.

I do already have a Mewtwo so I'm not complaining.

iheartmichellemallon Rare candies can turn into a candy for any Pokemon you want. The majority of players only use rare candies on Legendary Pokemon to power them up as you can’t catch them in the wild, you can’t get any more once they’re gone and you have to walk 20km to get one candy for them.

It takes 66 rare candies to get a Pokemon from Level 20 to Level 30.

How many do you have? I have nearly 200 (after having spent a couple of hundred powering up Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre and Zapdos) and I’m waiting for a good Mewtwo (at least over 90%) to power up.

Also... the Moltres as the research reward (like all reward pokes) will be level 15 rather than the usual 20 from a legendary raid. So you'll need total 86 candy to get it up to level 30.

soupforbrains That sucks; it happened to a couple of people at our last raid too. At least you have a Mewtwo though so it’s not too bad!

Thanks both. I don't have that many rare candies, just a half dozen or so but don't even remember where or when I got them so haven't used any.

iheartmichellemallon You only get rare candies from raids. The higher level the raid you do the more rare candies you have a chance of getting (though they aren’t guarenteed even when you do a legendary raid).

Thanks - That explains it then as I've done a few raids (although not done any in ages as hate having to wait for 2 mins before the raids will start).

iheartmichellemallon I don’t mind the two minutes as I either spend it picking my team (if I don’t already have a battle party for that particular Pokemon) or reviving and healing them from the previous raid

Plus you get to chat to everyone while you wait so I find it goes by rather quickly.

I do think there should be an option to bypass it though; say if you’re soloing or if everyone has turned up to the raid, you could click a button to just say “I’m ready! Let’s battle!”.

There are a few field research tasks which also give out rare candy too so keep an eye out for those!

I always think that they should reduce the lobby time to 30 sec for private groups. That would be particularly good if you want to solo something, you could just create your own private group and get on with it. For public I can see the sense in the 2 min wait because it gives people who are in the area, and close enough to see that there are folk in the lobby, time to get there.

Although here the last person to arrive will often signal to start the lobby when they are within 2 min away. That does help cut the waiting around a bit.

I've used my rare candy to power up my 100% Feraligatr, he's now a 2604L37 beast, and part of my raid party which is called, of course, Raid Party Fears Two.

I don't think I'd want the lobby time cut down but a skip option would be good. For when you solo it.

Round here we have very large groups which get organised for raiding and we tend to use private groups for all raids to prevent spoofers. Sometimes we need that 2 mins time to make sure everyone has got the code and gotten into the group without glitching or erroring out.

But yeah an option to say 'I'm ready, Let's go!' Would be great when you're soloing stuff. Otherwise the two minutes is long enough that I sometimes wander off into a day dream and don't notice when the battle starts. Haha.

I used the battle simulator for the first time yesterday and managed to take down a level 3 boss on my own. Got a bit cocky and tried again a while later to no success!

It was just so much more pleasant walking & playing in the sunshine yesterday rather than having to wipe the rain off my phone screen before screwing up another throw due to frost bitten fingers!

Did catch this nice little fishy the other day. Unfortunately I evolved one recently so it's going to take quite a while to get enough candy to evolve this one 😥

Perhaps they could make it so when you set a private group you pick a lobby time, maybe between 30 seconds and 2 mins so if you're soloing you don't have to hang around but if you're a group you can have the longer time to arrange.

IVs are basically how good a Pokemon is. For things like Pidgey, Rattatta etc. it doesn’t really matter, but for God Tier Pokemon (Tyrannitar, Dragonite etc.) and Legendary Pokemon you want to have the best IVs possible. A high CP is great, but if it’s high CP/low IV it would be a bad idea to evolve/power up.

The higher the IV, the better the Pokemon will be in battle. So if two people are fighting with a Tyrannitar and one is 60% and the other is 95%, even if they have the same movesets, the 95% will last longer and deal more damage.

So if you’re there wondering why a Pokemon everyone is saying is good isn’t performing for you, if you’re not checking IVs before you evolve or power up, that could be a big reason why (along with best movesets, Pokemon Level, CP and type effectiveness).
