Raided a magikarp today. First one I did for ages. I have thousands of unread messages for the local whatsapp group. It's a pain controlling the flow of messages coming in so I haven't joined up for any legendary raids, particularly as spontaneously charging around the city and hanging around isn't very convenient with my two young side kicks.

I'd like gen 3. I've got a couple of gen 2 evolutions to go, and missing Militank, but I feel like I've spent nearly 2 months slogging through L32 with little to show for it. I've found the recent features/ events quite divisive on who they benefit.

Still slogging on with Flaffy. 35 candies down... 65 to go...

Oh my other whinge is rewards for low level raids. Just 6 pink potions that are destined straight for the dump. Really? I've not seen a rare candy or TM for yonks. I can get pink potions from a few poke stops.

Regular potions build up so fast they're mainly all I use; I would never throw them. They're a great way to keep space free in your bag; use 5 potions instead of 1 super.

There's no hanging around for us; we agree a time, all get there, start raid at said time, defeat boss, attempt to catch and then off we go Grin Alrhough if you're not keeping up with the WhatsApp messages (and the group goes so fast I understand), you're probably not seeing the organised raids which unfortunately leads to hanging around.

I've found the recent features/ events quite divisive on who they benefit.

They benefit the players who are willing to team up with others for Legendaries, which is what they wanted in the first place: a safe way to team up.

Cotton I'm not a firefighter though I agree they're brilliant, but I do work in a fire related field :)

Mrsmomo · 18/08/2017 00:31

Wortotle I soooo want to know what your profession is now! (Don't worry though, no need to tell me, it's ok to keep me in suspense) sounds very interesting tho ;)

MummySparkle · 18/08/2017 13:27

Oooh burns specialist nurse / doctor Wartortle?

I finally hatched my third snorlax today - very excited! He's a bit pants, but 25 candies will go a long way at ramping up my other two!

MummySparkle · 18/08/2017 13:28

Prodessional pyromaniac?

Log burner design / installation?

Bimblesalong · 19/08/2017 09:22

Wartortle, are you The Prodigy?

cottonwool125 · 19/08/2017 17:33

It's been very quiet on here apart from guessing Wartortles profession Grin Pokémon wise the past few days!

Nothing particularly exciting to report myself personally- went for a walk to hatch some eggs today. Has anyone else been finding that 90% of eggs that have been dropping lately have been 5km? I've probably had 3 2km eggs in the past week and a half which seems really low. There are some good 'mon that I need from 5 k's (desperately need Grimers, Totodiles and Chikoritas so I can get closed to final evolutions, and obviously anything else I don't yet have), but I do love a 2km as I can walk them off in under an hour. 10km eggs seem even rarer than normal! Have only had one in the last month Sad

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/08/2017 17:47

You can get now get Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Pichu from 2km eggs! Grin

eyebrowsonfleek · 19/08/2017 18:05

I usually have 95%+ 5k eggs. This is the first time ever that I've walked 2 x10k in succession.

eyebrowsonfleek · 19/08/2017 18:07

Chef ?
Candle maker?
Stunt Woman?
Pottery maker?
Mother of Dragons?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/08/2017 18:09

Yes, I mostly have seven 5km eggs and two 2kms. If I'm lucky, one of those two free slots is a 10km Grin

Mrsmomo · 19/08/2017 18:48

I got so fed up with 2 and 5 k eggs so the other day I paid for coins to buy eight extra incubators (used some of my gym win coins too) incubated 8 eggs all 5k which hatched today and one 2k. All absolute rubbish. AND so far pokestops have not replaced any eggs!!! So yes I agree eggs are a bit crap at the mo.

PickAChew · 19/08/2017 18:58

How on earth is sudowoodo rare? He spawns in my back garden along with all the other vermin!

BlooBagoo · 19/08/2017 19:02

Hi just noticed this group! Do you mind if I join? Been playing since last July and still play daily, been loving the raids recently, even if the stupid Moltres still isn't mine despite numerous attempts (and even trying the nanab method). At the moment I'm level 29, and I'm on team Mystic. :)

cottonwool125 · 19/08/2017 19:25

WhatToDo thanks for the list of what can hatch out of eggs.

Agree with PickAChew about bloody Sudowoodo- I've got well over a hundred candies, but never hatched one from an egg. Like when they put Chinchou in 10 Km eggs Angry

I wish the eggs were slightly more area specific- so Sudowoodo might be rare for some countries, but it's not for us, so it should be in our 5ks rather than 10s.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/08/2017 19:30

He's not rare for you, but on the whole he's considered rare.

Plus if you get a good one, they can be really useful. It's good against any of the birds if it has Stone Edge, particularly Moltres and Articuno.

Welcome BlooBagoo! Just so you know, the "nanab method" and all the other stuff floating around is not true.

There are no tricks to catching Legendaries. Put simply, the better your throw the better chance you have. An excellent curve ball wields the best chance - curve balls really do make a difference (but if you can't do them, don't try them on Legendaries as you'll waste your few precious balls!).

Yay for Team Mystic Grin

BlooBagoo · 19/08/2017 19:36

Thanks for that about the nanab method, plenty of people I've been at raids with said it worked but did absolutely nothing for me.

I've had all the other legendaries, curve ball every time and somehow it's never been an excellent throw they've caught on so I know it's all down to chance as well.

Just about to head out to keep up my streaks, probably won't be raiding at all today but did loads yesterday.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/08/2017 19:40

BlooBagoo Yeah, it's just coincidence. There's a 3% base rate for catching Legendaries so of course people are going to catch them with rubbish throws or with nanabs or whatever. It's just not a trick.

Oh yes, your throw just increases your chance. If you do a straight ball with no golden raspberry that only just hits it, you've got a 3% chance, so you can still catch it.

It's just the closer you come to a perfect catch (golden raspberry, curveball, excellent throw) the better a chance you have; you can still catch it at any point along the way.

You just have to check out how stats work to figure it out Smile The best throw you can do won't guarantee a catch, just increases it. Likewise the shittest throw doesn't mean you won't get it, just decreases it.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 19/08/2017 19:52

Shinys in eggs! Woo Hooooooo.

BlooBagoo · 19/08/2017 21:15

Not a bad walk when getting streaks tonight. Found a wild Omastar, my second but the first for the kids so they were excited. Then I hatched a Shellder, but with enough candies for my third Cloyster. Took a gym as well but was knocked out again instantly so no coins this time. Don't normally have anything more exciting than weedles and pidgeys in our area.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/08/2017 21:21

Double ice Cloysters can be fantastic, so a hatched Shellder is definitely your best option to evolve Smile

Just checked as I couldn't easily when I was out, gave me ice shard & hydro pump for that one. Other two are ice shard/aurora beam and frost breath/hydro pump. IV of the newest one is the best despite lower CP though so not a bad hatch really.

PickAChew · 19/08/2017 21:59

Don't knock the weedles and pidgeys - at only 12 candy to evolve they're great for XP.

BlooBagoo · 19/08/2017 22:07

Oh yes, I would miss the XP if I couldn't get them at all. It does get boring with nothing but them at times, especially when I end up running out of balls as it's a long walk to our closest Pokestop to stock up. Wouldn't be so bad if we lived in a better area for stops/gyms. We're looking to move soon and I will be checking each area for stops etc once we start viewing houses GrinNot that DH knows I'll be doing this, he doesn't play and I still haven't convinced him to try it.
