Oooh thanks for the egg lost whattodoaboit2017 I was actually going to ask if anybody knew what was in 10k eggs these days. I totally agree with the 5k eggs - the vast majority of mine seem to be 5ks. And most of them seem to be whopper. I mean, he's cute, but a bit useless!! Very pleased to finally have a decent Laura's though. I caught one in ASDA (of all places!) honks ago, but as it was only 129cp it hasn't been of any use other than filling up my Dex! I didn't know about mareep- deffo want one of those! Also didn't know that Magyar and electabuzz were no longer available to hatch - I'd been hoping for one of those. Mine were hatched when I was in the teens level wise so a bit rubbish co wise compared to what I have now. I've been walking with gravelled - 1 candy off a golem now Grin

cottonwool125 · 19/08/2017 22:13

MummySparkle I'm assuming you mean Lapras as opposed to Laura's, unless that what you've renamed her Grin

MummySparkle · 19/08/2017 22:39

Gah! Why doesn't my iPhone automatically know Pokémon names?!?! Yes lapras!

I couldn't wait for the last candy Blush, but golem isn't too bad - need to keep walking to power him up a bit Grin

MummySparkle I'm walking Geodude at the moment too- 4 more candies to go. I have an egg that'll hatch tomorrow so if that contained a Geodude that would be much appreciated Grin

I've heard Golem is meant to be great when taking down gyms/raids/legendaries!

DoctorTwo · 19/08/2017 23:00

I'm quite excited. I have a new phone, a Nokia 6. I'm waiting till the morning to use it.

I appear to have got quite addicted to taking down gyms, I now do at least one a day

Ampharos is the second best electric in the game after Zapdos, so it's worth waiting for. You can get good Magmars and Electrabuzz's from raids so you haven't missed out on them.

golem isn't too bad - need to keep walking to power him up a bit

Golem "isn't too bad"?! Grin Its one of the best in the game! Assuming your Golem has high IVs, you want a charge TM to change from Earthquake to try and get Stone Edge so it's double rock.

Golem is the best rock Pokemon outside of Tyrannitar in the game currently.

I've heard Golem is meant to be great when taking down gyms/raids/legendaries!

Golem has been my go-to Pokemon for legendary raids; it's amazing if it's double rock (you want Stone Edge though). I've rerolled on both my Golems get it.

PickAChew · 20/08/2017 00:32

DS1 and I have some pretty useful golems. I always pinap and ultraball wild geodudes (because I've noticed that pinapberries do make the ring a little less green and if I've had a good spin and chuck week, I usually have over 100 ultraballs)

PickAChew · 20/08/2017 00:33

You can still hatch magby and elekid, can't you?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 01:01

Pinap berries only double the amount of candy you get; they don't affect your chance of capture so the colour of the circle won't change and it won't be any easier or harder to catch.

You can still hatch magby and elekid, can't you?

Yes, you can still get them out of 5k eggs Smile

Icouldbeknitting · 20/08/2017 07:20

The egg chart has changed recently - I didn't know until today. You can hatch shiny stuff now.

My raid group is missing in action, I had to go solo a Crocnaw yesterday as we couldn't get enough people together to take a legendary bird. A legendary raid would have took me to the next level, now I'll just have to inch my way there one Pidgey at a time.

MummySparkle · 20/08/2017 08:38

Oh I know golem is epic, I meant mine isn't bad! He's my first one, so with some powering up he'll be good. I just don't have any startdust, ever! Need to power up snorkel, lapras and golem but they're all 4000 odd each. Even with the daily catch bonus it doesn't rack up very quickly!

Cakedoesntjudge · 20/08/2017 10:23

Me and DP are off to London today purely for Pokémon-Ing!

Went to Milton Keynes the other day but didn't get on overly well there so hoping London will yield better results!! Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 11:13

Ohh that makes sense Grin

If it's costing 4,000 dust to power up it means your Pokemon are getting close to Level 30. After Level 30, they only power up half as much but with the same amount of dust, so I power up to Level 30 and then stop.

What's Snorkel? Is it Sneasel? Grin

Double ice Lapras is good but I've never powered any of my Lapras up because the cost isn't worth it for me, as I'm surrounded by shellders and swinubs which a Lapras would be only a marginal improvement on and that would take thousands upon thousands of dust. So I just don't think it's worth the dust.

Also if Snorkel is Sneasel I would recommend not using stardust to power it up; it's weak against a lot and not strong against many. It's also a low CP Pokemon (for example, to power my level 20 one up to level 30 it would take 80,000 stardust and still only be 1555) so not worth in that respect either.

There are just better dark (Tyrannitar, Houndoom) and better ice (Articuno, Cloyster) out there.

I only power up Pokemon with great IVs and good enough CP that will be good fighters.

cottonwool125 · 20/08/2017 12:07

WhatToDo MummySparkle My guess is Snorlax rather than Sneasel Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 12:21

My guess is Snorlax rather than Sneasel

Ahh yes, that would make a lot more sense Grin I was sat here thinking "Who on earth would power up a Sneasel?!" Grin

A good Snorlax is definitely worth powering up if you value gym defence as it's the second best gym defender after Blissey.

Cakedoesntjudge · 20/08/2017 16:35

Didn't go to London in the end today but DP has pointed out something I hadn't noticed (apologies if this has been covered) the smaller packs (regarding both the pokecoins and the raid passes & pinap berries in the current special boxes) are better value than buying the bigger packs. I had never thought to check before as just assumed that the bigger packs would be better value as in most games you get! Feel a bit cheated now!

BlooBagoo · 20/08/2017 17:43

Not bad hunting today, no raids but I get my 7 day streaks on a Sunday, so finally have more pokeballs! Needing a King's Rock to evolve a Poliwhirl though and I got yet another Sunstone.

Hatched two 2km eggs, one Exeggcute (first since I evolved my Exeggutor) and one Oddish, which gave me enough candies to evolve one of my Glooms into a Bellossum. Started walking a Flaaffy for the candies as well as I've been stuck on 50 for ages and all the others which were closer to being evolved have all been done now.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 18:04

Cakedoesntjudge Reddit's Silph Road did a breakdown where the Great and Ultra boxes came out best:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/6oz1vc/new_boxes_value_breakdown/

Icouldbeknitting · 20/08/2017 20:32

It depends on what you'll use, I wouldn't take incense and lures if they were giving them away and I'd rather have the space for something I use. I'd rather have two special boxes for 960 than a great box for 980 because the 10 lures are no good to me.

MummySparkle · 20/08/2017 21:51

If I'm level 29, does that mean that all of my fully powered up Pokémon will also be level 29? Once I get past level 30 how can I tell when the Pokémon are at level 30? Will I start needing loads more stardust to power them up?

And yes I did mean Snorlax earlier, sneasel is cute, but not one I'd waste my precious stardust on! Anybody know if there will be any events soon with double of stuff. I know we had doubly candies for Halloween last year.

I tried for a Moltres today, but with only one other person it wasn't happening. I was at the play area of a stately home near us - very temped to shout loudly if there were any other parents with Pokémon go that fancied helping us 😂

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 20/08/2017 21:56

I have a Sandshrew called Andrew. It was an autocorrect error, but it amused me so I've left him to it Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/08/2017 22:11

If I'm level 29, does that mean that all of my fully powered up Pokémon will also be level 29?

No. If fully powered up, at Level 29 they will be Level 30.5 (all Pokemon fully powered up are always 1.5 levels higher than your level; they go up in half level increments).

Once I get past level 30 how can I tell when the Pokémon are at level 30?

The easiest way is to use PokeGenie; put in a screenshot and it will tell you your Pokemons level.

The other way, is at Level 29, the cost to go up increases to 5,000 dust per increment, so if you level up twice after the cost reaches 5,000, it'll be level 30.

Also, you know when it pops up saying +40/+50 etc when you power up? Anything after Level 30 will be powered up half what it was before (so if it was +40, it would now be +20). Hence why I don't power anything up after it hits Level 30 Grin

Will I start needing loads more stardust to power them up?

Not immediately; it carries on going up gradually as it always has before. After 31, for example, it increases from 5,000 to 6,000.

Anybody know if there will be any events soon with double of stuff. I know we had doubly candies for Halloween last year.

Nothing has been announced. Legendary birds are until 31st August and then Mewtwo is expected to come soon after in Exclusive Raid Battles (that you need to be invited to), so nothing on the immediate horizon.

cottonwool125 · 20/08/2017 22:19

Andrew the Sandshrew!! Great name 😂

MummySparkle · 21/08/2017 09:53

Andrew the Sandshrew is brilliant! Grin

I didn't know that about trainer levels and Pokémon levels! So that means my Gyarados is 30.5 then? My biggest Snorlax might be at 30 already. Definitely going to head over to PokeGenie - thanks for the heads up on that. I didn't know the amount they powers up with was less after then either, so that's good to know!

Exclusive raids are clearly going to be a lot more beneficial to people who live in towns / cities than us rural folks. I try and participate in a raid a day, but they're usually all over the place so the chances of me being invited to one that's actually near where I am at that moment are slim.

I caught a slugma and a wobuffet yesterday, so my Dex is slowly filling up.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/08/2017 11:52

MummySparkle Yeah, there's a lot more to the game than people realise Smile It can be played as casually as people want, which is great, but for more hardcore players it does require a lot of skill in getting the best Pokemon.

You can find PokeGenie in the App Store Smile It's literally you take a screenshot of your Pokemon and put it into the app along with the appraisal and it works out the IVs. It also lets you know how much dust and candy it would cost if you were to evolve or power up.
