It looked like a new thread was needed, so here it is, all shiny and pristine.

Not fair, still grey here!

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 19/06/2017 21:58

I can see my usual two gyms from home. It's really odd seeing them short and grey, not towering over the neighbourhood!

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 19/06/2017 22:01

Ooh yes, 2 extra gyms in the area Grin

DameDeDoubtance · 19/06/2017 22:01

It's awfully flat out there isn't it!

DameDeDoubtance · 19/06/2017 22:03

are the new gyms still flat and grey? No change that I can see then, oh well.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/06/2017 22:05

Yes, all gyms - new and old - are flat and grey. They're still disabled; can't do anything with them.

tumpymummy · 19/06/2017 23:00

Oooh 2 new gyms near me. Although one of them was a pokestop on my 'refuel pokeballs' walk which means collecting poke balls might not be so easy for me. Interested to see what the gyms will be like, but blurb out already makes them seem very confusing. And not sure how spoofers are going to be deterred (which is the main problem with the old system).

Read the update; you'll be able to spin gyms too.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 19/06/2017 23:29

As well as new gyms, we've also got more pokestops! Which is awesome, even though our small town has loads already Grin

PickAChew · 20/06/2017 00:33

Nothing new in sight in my village.

Our regular park gym that never stays put for long is flat, though our Pokemon are still apparently assigned to a gym in York.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 00:35

Yes, PickAChew, all gyms are flat and grey right now.

However if you had a Pokemon in a gym, it's still technically "there" and you can still collect from it for the time being.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 01:35

One of my pokemon has come out of a gym but does not need reviving.

I think they will all be removed.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 01:40

FreeNiki Oh yes, of course they'll all be removed; they have to be.

But it'll be one by one as they work on each gym, I imagine.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 02:00

I hope some of them last until morning so i can get some coins.

The gym nearest me has been untouchable for about 4 months. A level 10 with about 5 high cp Blissey. That's all about to change.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 02:23

See I just haven't encountered that problem. Yes, there are gyms I can hold for weeks which is great, but they can be taken down if people are willing to put in the effort.

Upon reading more about the new system I am liking it. I was initially concerned about there only being six spots per gym, but seeing as they're adding more gyms, that shouldn't be a problem.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 02:39

I have that problem everywhere here. So many gyms stay the same as people put 3000+ cp Blissey in there about 2-3.

I have found that Vaporean is the only thing that takes out a Blissey but maybe one not several. When I battle I am not likely to get several vaporean to tackle all the Blisseys.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 02:51

Vaporeon is good, but ideally you want fighting type Pokemon to tackle Blissey effectively (that obviously have fighting moves). So Machamp is perfect against Blissey.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 02:52

Machamp never gets selected for battles.

I wonder why not

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 02:58
Confused

You don't just go with the ones the game selects, do you?

It's useless at picking the right ones. I always spend a good couple of minutes making sure I have the right Pokemon for each battle.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 02:59

I didnt know you could pick.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 03:02

Yes, you click each Pokemon's box to change it and it brings up all your Pokemon. Sort by combat power and you have the best at the top, so it's easier to see which to use.

Does that make sense?

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 03:03

Shit. Im sure i tried that and it didnt work.

Just as gyms change i find this out
Blush

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 03:07

I've just grabbed this random image off the net, but you see where it says Tauros? If you wanted to change it, you'd just click on Tauros' picture. Likewise for each Pokemon.

It should still be applicable going forward, so hopefully this'll help Smile

It will make battles much easier to win if you've got the right Pokemon facing off against each other! When the game picks they don't take into account the actual moves the Pokemon has, which can make or break the battle for you.

FreeNiki · 20/06/2017 03:09

I am SO Blush I didnt figure this out.

That's why I get tired of battling as low cp jolteon get picked every time.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 20/06/2017 03:14

Ahh no worries Smile I wouldn't be too surprised to find out others didn't know either.

It's like I have an Arcanine that's double electric, so if the game picked it to go against a grass Pokemon because its type is fire, it would do shit as grass Pokemon as resistant to electric moves.

At least you know before the start of the new gymming system!
