Is anybody else looking forward to playing Breath of the Wild on Friday? I haven't looked on youtube as I don't want to spoil it by watching someone else playing it first.
I have warmed up by playing A Link Between Worlds but finished that earlier than expected.

Have you tried the snipperclips demo Legos. My youngest will help on that.

LegosAndSkiing · 04/03/2017 16:12

Ashvis Wow you can actually cook in the game?
MrsGWay Thanks a lot, I will try that!

Ashvis · 04/03/2017 17:48

Snipperclips looks interesting, thanks for mentioning that one MrsG. Dh and I would love to get ds playing games as well as watching them, and that's a possibility!

Yeah, the cooking is really useful - cooked dishes restore more health, can sometimes boost stamina, as well as other effects, and sell for more if you wanted to make cash. Incidentally, I went hunting, accidentally shot a goat with a flaming arrow rather than a regular one and, instead of raw meat, I got a seared steak! You can use the cooking pot to make elixirs too - a monster part and a critter (frog, cricket etc) together makes them with loads of different effects apparently. Haven't made many but counting the minutes till ds' bedtime to play more...

Loving this game. What's great is it doesn't hold your hand like most games

Ashvis · 07/03/2017 06:56

I'm completely in love with this game now. Probably the best Zelda game ever. Anyone else naming horses? So far I've got Epona (obviously), Roach and Binky. Planning on using Artax, Shadowfax and Arvak soon too 😊

JigglyTuff · 07/03/2017 07:36

I have Polka and StormStar.

I'm just noodling around doing side quests and cooking!

Ashvis · 07/03/2017 07:41

I'm noodling about too! Some of the side quests are really fun. Been to two villages and looking forward to some random exploring. I've made several inedible dishes though 😬

MrsGWay · 08/03/2017 09:17

Does anybody else think that this game is hard? I got to the first Divine Beast but realised I need to toughen up first. So I am back to locating shrines and food items.
I have wolf link with max hearts that kills enemies, catches prey and helps with the Sheikah Sensor so would recommend this amiibo.

OP posts:
JigglyTuff · 08/03/2017 14:05

It's really hard! But so was Twilight Princess!

How does the amiibo work? DS put toon link on but we couldn't figure out what (if any) effect it had - not sure if we were doing it right?

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 07:23

I'm on my way to the Zora Domain, but with only 2 heart upgrades and 1 stamina upgrade, I suspect I'll get slaughtered 😬Yesterday I did the shrine near the Lanryu tower and died twice (thank goodness for fairies!). I'm heading to more shrines to toughen up too. The electric arrows are deadly. I am finding it tougher, but not too tough yet. Yet. I like that if you come across a bunch of really difficult bad guys, the game usually auto saves before you take them on so, when if you die, you can generally restart near them, but far enough away to avoid them next time around.

I've a few amiibo, the wolf one I got when released, and dh very sweetly got me the smash brothers Link and Ganondorf ones last night! Before starting the game, select amiibo from the game menu so the amiibo rune is available on your slate. Then once in game, activate the rube and tap the amiibo to the controller. I've only tried it using the pro controller and it was a bit fiddly getting the right area to tap (there should be a pic to show exactly where to tap). I found that wolf Link didn't want to go into a village, and after a minute of me being in it, he apparently went back to his own world. When I used the Ganon one, a few barrels and a treasure chest appeared. The treasure chest contained a kick ass sword so I'm delighted! It will break soon enough I'm sure, but has enhanced durability so pretty pleased all the same. Link amiibos should drop weapons and armour in chests when used

MrsGWay · 09/03/2017 09:10

Doesn't smash brothers Link give you Epona? All amiibos give items but Zelda ones give chests as well. Wolf Link can be used more than once so when he disappears you can call him back.
The Zora domain is where I got to but cannot get into the beast, but that is my lack of skill more than anything.
I have found I can't go everywhere I want either as I don't have the right clothing or haven't upgraded the ones I have.
I spent hours playing this yesterday and I finished the day practically where I started. Blush

Yeah it is really hard! I don't really know where to find armor from so im wandering around trying to fight big groups in a warm doublet Grin I also went to a shrine out in the sea. I should have realised from its position that it was going to be very hard. Stepped in there and got killed instantly.

GreyStars · 09/03/2017 09:55

So how is the switch???

So bloody tempted, I'm teetering on the edge... someone give me a little nudge Grin

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 12:18

Yes, I got Epona! But it was a one time thing, don't get to keep her I'm afraid. Honestly, though, I think the other horses handle better anyway. Hoping to get some armour from the Link amiibo today, but you never know. I'm loving the wolf - I didn't expect mine to have full hearts, but he did! Two days ago I got totally lost and spent 3 hours accomplishing nothing except finding a couple korok seeds. I don't like using guide books early on in a game, they're for finding side quests and things are maybhave missed when I'm closer to the end of the game, but I had a quick look to point me in the right direction. I'm saving up to buy a house though. Will worry about exploring new places once I've done that.

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 12:19

And the switch is awesome, I'm loving it as a console! The battery life on the pro controller is insanely long!

JigglyTuff · 09/03/2017 12:39

The Switch is great. Just plug and go and yes, joycons last 20 hours on a single charge. Not tried it as a handheld yet but will next weekend!

I've just upgraded my Sheika Slate and it's awesome! Grin

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 12:48

Oooh, Jiggly which upgrade did you get?

Yes, Grey, get the Switch, and Zelda. It's very likely you'll be very happy with it. If you're reading this thread, you definitely want to 😄

neonrainbow · 09/03/2017 13:10

Wait you can buy a house!?

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 13:48

Yes, you can! At Haeteno village. You need 3,000 rupees and 30 bundles of wood. I just need 700 more rupees 😁

MrsGWay · 09/03/2017 14:37

Yes get the Switch, I have a Wii U but got the Switch anyway. I only use it as a handheld and have played Zelda when out and about but also in bed.
I have been to an island shrine which is a major test of strength so immediately left! Near it is another island which might be even worse!

OP posts:
Ashvis · 09/03/2017 14:37

Google was wrong - you can keep Epona! I used my amiibo today, and there she was! I worked on my bond with her so she is better than the other horses, and I registered her at the stables!

GreyStars · 09/03/2017 15:12

I never purchased the wii-U but still have my old wiii which I love.

But having just rekindled my love with all things Nintendo, dragged out my really really old one and exhausted FF 15 it's time for a new toy...

I didn't need much persuading to be honest but little old Link is just calling me Grin

Thank you everyone Grin

Off to find one now and I deserve it I've just spent hours cleaning this bloody house Grin Gin & 🎮 close enough for me

GreyStars · 09/03/2017 15:12

ff was on the Xbox, it just wasn't the same really Grin

neonrainbow · 09/03/2017 15:57

Sounds like the same island op! I learnt a valuable lesson... the more off the beaten path a shrine is the worse it will be Grin

Ashvis · 09/03/2017 17:44

A major test of strength? Bloody hell, I got my ass handed to me on a minor test of strength. It was fighting a guardian. Fortunately, I got a guardian shield after finally defeating it, and it apparently reflects its beam attack back, going to keep it for next guardian I come across.

Yay for buying a switch! Hope you were able to find one. At ds' request, I tried snipperclips today, was fun. Still haven't tried 1 2 Switch despite having it for nearly a week tho, cause that'd eat into Zelda time.

Haven't used my switch out and about yet, but meeting friends for breakfast on Monday and I know I'll arrive first. I'll have time to spare so I'm going to take it! Console Zelda in Dobbies. Amazing 😊
