Pokemon Go #6: Where pokemon babies are abandoned in gyms at freezing temperatures

Well, saw this little one left overnight in a gym. Sad, really... Where are his parents? What were they thinking? Do they work night shifts too?

And there was an enormous funeral going on at the church, which is the only local gym. I gave it a wide berth at the start of my walk but on the way back I snuck down to the only spot with reception to take the gym. It was all happening inside still so hopefully I didn't offend anyone .

Still not up to going out so gave in & am now proud owner of a Festive!Raichu... is my best Raichu in fact, so I foresee using it in season & out...

She's a beaut Zebra! I renamed my Christmas Raichu Merry and she's been in a gym all week, absolute record for me!

Had a very successful pokemon day today after a dull few weeks. Went to Battersea Park with the dc as they were saying it was a doduo nest on reddit - I had one doduo from a hatched egg since July and evolved dodrio was the last but one pokemon I needed to complete my 145 erodex. Got 170! Just need 20 odd bulbasaur candy now and I'm done with gen1 without the regionals.

DS1 also pleased as got dodrio and finally got enough fish for his gyrados. Slightly upset when I hatched a 10k egg and it was my second lapras - he's desperate for one (and its his birthday!). Luckily he hatched our first baby on the way out to make up for it - a cute igglybuff. He also got a porygon.

Most exciting pokemin day for ages and a nice day out as well.

Today's eggs were awful, geodude and krabby

I stuck my rhydon into a gym as we were waiting at some traffic lights in east London yesterday and it's still there! Utterly gobsmacked - that's the longest I've had anything in a gym.

My 10k egg turned out to be an omanyte which was slightly annoying because I already had one but I've only ever seen one in the wild so I guess it's not as bad as a jynx. I've caught tons of pikachu today and not a single fucking bulbasaur or charmander.

My eggs today were Goldeen, meh, and Elekid, YAY!

Got kicked out of the gym I'd been in since the 19th, but managed to get myself back in this afternoon, although I don't know how long I'll stay in this time. Managed to get in another too, and put DD in as well and grab her some coins. Not a bad day. Got another 10k egg cooking and two more waiting for a free incubator, plus a bunch of 5ks I'm working through with my infinity incubator. :)

I prestiged a gym from 2- 8 today while walking round a museum. Hopefully it will hold long enough to claim tomorrow!

Where I am, spoofing (manipulating your GPS) is quite common. From what you're describing this is what likely happened at your local gym. You can take screenshots of who's taken over the gym and send them to Niantic, describing the situation, here: support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=319948. If there is a local Facebook group, they will probably know their 'heroes' and you can ask other people to report this account too. I reported some accounts in the past, just to see what would happen, and heard nothing back.

Niantic will not necessarily be able to see if that account is spoofing or not, cheating may be quite realistic and resemble normal gameplay.

Cheating is ultimately what killed Ingress, the predecessor of PokemonGo. It remains to be seen if Niantic will cope with policing PokemonGo cheaters. On a global scale the only way to go about it is to rely on the community itself to be self-policing their local areas, but this mindset needs fostering and Niantic comms so far is hopeless with the simplest of things.

It's a worthwhile lesson for your DS though, as it is a gentle reminder that not everyone around you is kind or fair, and you should only play as long as you're enjoying it.

DS1 hatched Charmander with 9 candy, meh and Cleffa.

I hatched meh x 3! Actually, the Ryhorn might have been welcomed 2 months ago, but no longer need it!

Reminds me ot see what's spawning at the infamous Hornsea Memorial gardens and East park, since we're spending new year wth my parents.

So the second part of the event starts today, right? Increased Startermon spawns?

I imagine it won't kick in till later as the egg non event did.

Hopefully manage to fill a few holes in the 'dex.

Thanks cartwheelgirl we know a few other players, mostly friends of the dc and I'll ask them to keep an eye out for anything suspicious. I haven't managed to find a FB group that covers us out here in the sticks yet. The Glasgow groups don't go as far north.
On the bright side, the 10 km egg hatched a lapras, still no baby in sight but we haven't ever even seen the shadow of a lapras before so this is great. She is called Iris and has 1950 CP and is adorable.
Didn't get a single egg yesterday and now have three idle incubators.

I have gone up to level 31. I did a mass evolve as I thought there was no point waiting. The experience level is the same as level 30 so another 500,000 to get but I suppose it could be worse. Are some Pokémon from different countries? My young nephew uses cheats and has got all the Pokémon by going to America and Australia using cheats. I am still waiting on a manga but it says I have seen one!

jennielou75, yes some pokemon are region-specific: Farfetch’d (#083) – Asia; Mr Mime (#122) – Europe; Kangaskhan (#115) – Australia; Tauros (#128) – North America.

You might have seen Kangaskhan in a gym.

They all seem to be busy mating round here! The weirdest was a mr mime with a rattata!

I had a 'needs updating' message pop up yesterday so did, but it won't let me open the app since Everytime I try, the white screen pops up for about 2 seconds, then just closes down the app.
Any ideas anyone? I've already deleted and reinstalled.

Could be connection to their servers. In the past I just waited and the problem went away.
