Hearthfire Skyrim DLC (18, appropriateness?)

DS (nearly 14) has (and is slightly obsessed with) Skyrim. As it was rated 15 I looked on Common Sense Media first, and decided it seemed okay, and having seem him play it, I agree it is appropriate for his age.
However I recently said no to Elder Scrolls Online based on Common Sense media reviews (it is an 18 anyway).
I am VERY wary of 18s, they can obviously be quite a jump from a 15, and my feeling is that they have been rated 18 for a reason. DS now really wants the 'Hearthfire DLC'. This is rated an 18, I looked on Common Sense Media but there were no reviews, actually from the description I really can't figure out why it is an 18, but again, it has obviously been rated 18 for a reason. Can anyone give me any info on this DLC and its appropriateness/why it has been rated 18?

I have played over 60 hours of ESO and almost 400 hours of skyrim including hearth fire and I have no idea why it would be an 18.
If I remember correctly all it adds is the option to buy different pieces of land and build and customise houses.... I just checked and it says hearth fire is rated 15. All it adds is land the options to build houses and the option to adopt the random kids you see running around.
I just had a check and all of the skyrim DLC is rated 15, to be honest I would guess the main reason ESO is 18 is some dodgy language and the facts it's a multiplayer.

Does your son have dragonborn or dawnguard dlc's? They are more expensive but add more story line and usable items like weapons armours and skills.

Thanks CatMilkMan, at Game's online store Hearthfire was an 18 (PS3, not that it should make any difference?).

He doesn't have any other DLCs and I had said a def no to the Dragonborn one he asked for because in the description I could see why it had been rated 18, unlike Hearthfire, which I think based on these responses I will allow him to get.

Can games really be rated 18 for being multiplayer?! DS did say that was 'the only reason' but to me that is crap! People interact with strangers in RL everyday!?!

I don't remember seeing anything sexual or more violent than skyrim in ESO but with hundreds of players running around anyone could say anything in a general chat. They are pretty good about warning people and banning anyone for going too far but I know I have played in a team and swore in the chat. To be told off by a kid that I presumed was older.

I don't use play station I use a PC and it says the ratings are all 15(with strong violence warnings but no sexual content) including dragonborn. store.steampowered.com/dlc/72850/
I think he will enjoy hearthfire it adds the challenges of needing to collect resources to build your house, I spent far longer than I would admit collecting decorations.
Skyrim has so much to do I doubt he will ever really need dragonborn or dawnguard for the content but dawnguard adds a massive vampire castle and some fun quests.

I think I might have a £10 game gift card at home, I will never use it so if it can be used online I will message you the codes and you can have it.
