Fifa 15 security / hacking

DS has been playing FIFA 15 on his laptop since Sept. He downloaded a free version which was genuine.. from EA .

We have endured many an incomprehensible conversations over the dinner table about who he had bought and transferred etc. Yesterday, he was playing... switched to do something else and then when he went back to Fifa all his players had gone. DS assures me he has been hacked ...and ie heartbroken.(he has uninstalled the programme from his Laptop)

Are there any wise Fifa playing Mnetters who can tell me :-

a) Is it likely he has been hacked or is it more likely a glitch ?
b) If he was hacked, is there something we could have done to prevent it?
c) Could the potential hacking pose a more malevolent risk to say my PC which uses the same broadband ?( sorry if this is a stupid question). We have never keyed any credit card details or financial information into DS laptop... its just for Minecraft, watching you tube videos and very very occasionally he does his homework on it!

Free fifa 15? Sounds strange and sounds like it got pulled.

Yes.. DS says that as it was the free version it was restricted in some areas,( matches on line I think)... but i checked it as far as I could at the time and it seemed OK to me

It sounds like he may have downloaded a demo version of the game with limited access to parts of the game. Sometimes the demo versions have a time limit programmed into them as well. If that is the case, you needn't worry too much about the hacking thing.

Thanks Zazzle that sounds very plausible
