How long does it take to set up a wii u?

We've got a wii u for Christmas and someone suggested we should set it up beforehand so it's ready to play on Christmas Day?

Is it easy to do? Does anyone know how long roughly it will take? I don't want to start it then realise I'm only half way through at bedtime!

It's a couple of years since I set ours up, it took an hour or 2 but that is because Nintendo had released a huge software update that needed to download and install.
If there is no update it will be much shorter.

Ours took less than an hour, that was including removing someone else's account/wifi and setting up our own, as we got it second hand. And I reset to factory settings basically so it was like switching it on from new

I like to do stuff like that before Christmas day too!
