Sims 3 - How do you play?

I always end up making Sim versions of myself and trying to build a version of my own home. Then I get bored and play with cheats to build a huge mansion!

I play legacy challenges, I've yet to complete one though!

I like building and furnishing houses and making Sims mainly. I don't often play a family for long until I start a new one . I like making a new family and placing them in the same game though so I can switch between them.
