If I buy a Wii U premium pack do I need to buy any extra?

I'm considering buying a Wii U later in the year (to be used by DS who's 6 and for games as a family hopefully) and wondered if I will need to buy any controllers, 2nd gamepad, nunchuks or anything else?

We don't have a games console at all at the moment, so I'm not really sure what the different controllers are for. The Wii U consoles seem to come with just a game pad.

Any advice welcome!

if you want to do multiplayer then you will need other controllers as the gamepad acts as a controller for one player.

Thanks. What's the difference between a controller and a nunchuk? Do the do different things or are they used for different types of games?

a nunchuck attaches to a controller and some games need a controller plus nunchuck to work (although loads of them don't need a nunchuck at all)

if you are playing mario cart games steering wheels are useful too

Thanks that's really helpful. The steering wheel I've seen on Amazon attaches to a wii u remote - do they have a different function to the wii u pro controller and would we need both?

Thank you for answering all my questions - I really appreciate it!

we dont have the wii u pro controller so have never used one. We just have the normal controllers and they fit into the steering wheels. Apparently the pro controller only works with some Wii U games whereas the other controllers work with all the games (you can play both Wii and Wii U games on the Wii U)

Great, thanks. Do you use the classic controller or the remote controller? It seems like the classic controller isn't made anymore, but if I can get by with a remote controller then that would be fine. The bundle I'm looking at includes the Mario kart game so I'd be keen to get the steering wheel.

we have a mix of controllers as we have the old Wii and well as the new Wii U. We have some old ones without motion plus and some with built in motion plus (we even have a Luigi green coloured Wii U remote plus) . I dont think we have ever had the classic controller either (is it an oval shape and held in 2 hands?). We have just had the ones held in one hand that can fit into the steering wheel

Brilliant - thanks so much. That's been a huge help!
