Hello,
I'm a games designer who is fresh out of university. I specialize in creating "serious games" which in lame mans terms means games which help people.
I'm working on a concept for 7 - 12 year olds right now where players would, using a smartphone app, evolve characters and train. The characters would be presented like a tamagotchi and the player would need to reach daily exercise goals to keep their character healthy and let it evolve to the next level.
The app uses a pedometer to measure daily exercise and has dynamic goals allowing children to play together on an even playing field, no matter their fitness levels. Factors like weather and location will also be taken in to account so as not to punish the player if they cannot
The game also allows players to form villages with their friends where they can trade characters and inspect each others creations. Friends will be added through bluetooth connection only ensuring that they know one and other. The village will also not allow any direct communication between players to increase safety.
Finally the app would be supplemented with real world accessories which would encourage the players to go outside and play games of Tag or treasure hunting, or football or racing all while stacking up points to use in the virtual game to allow them more customization options, more powerful characters and access to more digital games.
Is this something you would be interested in?
