Has anyone ever successfully revived a dusty and sickly Nintendo 64?

My N64 has been gathering dust in the loft for quite a few years but I've never found games I love as much on any of the more recent consoles so I was hoping it could be brought back into action. Most of the games don't work at all, worms armageddon is the only one that loads but the screen bounces up and down.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be an integral problem with the nintendo or if I can remove a few bits and do some hoovering? Is there anything else that can be used on a sick nintendo?

I'm no help except to say I LOVED my N64, it's my favourite console of all time - my Goldeneye game provided most of our entertainment during our last years of university! Hope you can get it mended, I'm tempted to get mine out to check it still works now!

Goldeneye is one of the games which is totally dead on ours, DP loved it I wasn't as keen. I miss mariocart Sad and worms without all the 3D bollocks Sad. I'm sure you can get all the old games on one of the new consoles but I'm not sure it would be quite the same.

I agree, I had the newer James Bond game on my Game Cube but it wasn't the same but maybe because I loved Goldeney as we played multiplayer. I think I only had Zelda and a handful of other games otherwise.

Multiplayer games are the best, I've never found playing against the computer as much fun. I really don't want to have to start again with all the worms missions to get the weapons, I just want to blow DP up (or shoot him, or prod him into molen lava, whatever I'm not fussy Grin)

I found an instructional video on youtube (hadn't thought of it because I thought the N64 was too ancient for youtube), a bit of surgical spirit round the connectors and it's working again. Grin Grin Grin

Just waiting for DP to get home so I can kill him Grin

I'm thinking the same, bluebump.

Enjoy, Pelvic Grin

Bugger, I've just killed it again. Worms was working so I thought I'd build on my success and clean mariokart, obviously I didn't do it well enough because it still wouldn't work and now worms isn't working either. Have applied more surgical spirit and hoping it starts working again once it's had time to evaporate [crossing fingers emoticon].
