Icybird7 · 13/11/2025 04:53

We have the Tesco vegan options and the Sainsbury's offerings
Not keen on Asda or Morrisons or Aldi or Lidl
But anywhere else got anything nice ???
M and s did a cheese and veg dish last year I can vaguely remember
I'd love a vegan cauliflower cheese and bubble and squeak
I'm already making a vegan meat pie for Christmas day ,so I don't want to make anything else ,so I'm not looking looking for recipes, thankyou xx

Turkey. Just tell the vegan it’s quorn.

MarmaladeMarxist · 13/11/2025 08:56

Ready made cauli cheese is always bogging though and it's so easy to make. You can do it in advance and freeze it too - I do this most years, and use cauli, leeks, and broccoli in it. Use the apple wood smoked vegan cheese and plenty of mustard 😋

Maybe the OP is 'the vegan'!

Also Quorn isn't vegan.

Why do you need more mains if you're making a pie? Who are you cooking for? As a vegan I'm afraid I find fake meat pies to be rank but then I am fussy. My favourite Christmas vegan main I've tried so far this year is the Lidl finest sausage and cranberry ring, it's really tasty and looks good.

Hilarious

Juicy marbles do a good fake steak (my partner was vegan and it’s the only fake meat that was ok) wrap in pastry to make a Wellington?

I might do something simple like this if I can t come up with anything else

I agree, no fake processeed meat. Could you do some vegan bean patties in advance? Could be any shape or taste you want. They usually freeze well.

But my in-laws served something like this from Tesco as an extra vegan option (we are always really well fed with them!) a few years ago. It was delicious!!!

We had mushroom Pithiviers last year. It was vegetarian rather than vegan, but the milk part can be easily substituted with plant milk.

We made the filling agead of time, then it was just an easy assembly job.

I've got the Lidl sausage and cranberry ring too - the only challenge is not eating it before Christmas!

I tell my vegan guests to eat what they are given and be grateful. All else fails they are welcome to have some of the hamsters food. I do not cater to fussy eaters and other associsted histrionics, especially on Christmas Day.

With that attitude I doubt that there are many people clamouring to have a meal with you especially at Christmas, unless you count your imaginary friends. Also this has been posted in the Vegan section so why are you posting here if you dislike vegans so much?

RampantIvy · 13/11/2025 13:14

I never tell my guests, be they omnivore, vegetarian or vegan, to eat what they are given. They aren't three year olds.

I like to host, and make people feel welcome. I take dietary preferences and needs into account.

My DH went to Waitrose and came home with a sweet potato nut roast and a seed Wellington..both look delicious.
So we have quite a good choice now
Plus I've been making a sausage and cranberry plat ,I was thinking of doing one but adding stuffing,it could definitely be made in advance

mmm right.

Do you live under a bridge by any chance?

Laurmolonlabe · 24/01/2026 22:24

Sorry about 70% of Christmas is about the food, I won't do vegan at Christmas lunch. There are options for the buffet but no main that will serve comes to mind.
