I'm making Bosh's Spicy Stuffed Aubergine and so that all the family enjoy it, I'd like to use really good vegan mince.

May I have your recommendations please?

TIA

The meatless farm one is ok as long as you fry it separately first and add it to anything saucey at the last min (but that is true if all vegan mince imo)

Anjelika · 03/01/2022 14:29

The only one we like here is the Quorn version.

theneverendinglaundry · 03/01/2022 14:50

I quite like the Vegetarian Butcher mince. The Beyond mince is good too, expensive but probably on offer at the moment.

Is the Quorn mince vegan? I thought it had egg in it.

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 03/01/2022 16:53

You are correct. Queen mince has egg white in it.
Thanks for the recommendations.

Ah sorry. We have a vege in the house but no vegans.

Concestor · 03/01/2022 18:12

I don't like any of them. I use green lentils and finely chopped mushrooms.

I've just tried the new Aldi one and it's great!

Vegetarian butcher tops it for me

Etinoxaurus · 06/01/2022 11:37

@zurala

I don't like any of them. I use green lentils and finely chopped mushrooms.
yy nuts and lentils are the best mince substitute.
KittenKong · 06/01/2022 11:38

I agree with lentils and mushrooms. Mince - quorn gives us belly ache, and vegan ones make me feel sick. I use soya (the dried stuff) but the texture and taste isn’t brilliant.

Greenrubber · 07/01/2022 21:42

If you crumble and bake tofu until its crispy it makes a great mince sub needs to be seasoned tho

Boyond mince is good ive not tried the vegetarian butcher but their chicken pieces are really good

KittenKong · 07/01/2022 21:44

There’s something called - I think - This is Not… (chicken/bacon etc). I have used the chicken - I thought it was ok but my crowd won’t eat it.

CatAlice · 07/01/2022 21:46

I use 50/50 soya and lentils.

VanWeezer · 07/01/2022 21:52

I use vivera mince. I buy it in Tesco. You don't have to cook for long. We are a meat eating family with one veggie and we all like it

EeeICouldRipATissue · 25/01/2022 00:00

I love the Meatless Farm Mince

EeeICouldRipATissue · 25/01/2022 00:01

Sorry, pressed too soon, meant to add because it's the most '' meaty '' and realistic tasting one.

AppleJane · 27/01/2022 10:31

We all like Vivera. If it was just me though I'd be happy with lentils, mushrooms or soya. Massel do chicken and beef style vegan stock powder which comes in handy.

Spud1130 · 29/01/2022 12:34

I like the supermarket own soya mince (sainsbury, Morriston, aldi) not particularly authentic (I don't think!) but holds its texture well when cooking including for hours in the slow cooker

Plump82 · 29/01/2022 12:36

I really rate the Tesco own. Farmfoods of all places used to do a great vegan mince but I've not seen it in stock for a whole.

PriamFarrl · 29/01/2022 12:38

Meatless Farms is quite good but I second the comment about lentils and mushrooms.
