pregnancy protein requirements

I will be entering my second trimester in the coming days. I have read that the pregnancy requires 25 additional grams of protein per day over the minimum daily requirement. This would put me at needing 72ish grams a day. I think protein is over hyped for sure, but what have other moms done? I have a lot of digestion issues and have trouble with any protein and this just seems impossible for me. I have been counting my daily protein count and it is usually way under 50 grams a day even when I am consciously trying to up it.

@Carabear

Hi just seen your post

I ate extra tofu during pregnancy and enjoyed a beyond burger once or twice a week and ate alot of hummus with carrots and peanut butter pieces
I also love garden peas so I add them to almost any meal Grin

I didn't worry too much about protein I was gaining weight I certainly wasn't eating 70 odd grams a day

My baby was 7.13 at 2 weeks early and she's growing brilliantly on breastmilk

Don't over think it make sure your getting plenty calories

Brocoli is really high in protein as weird as that sounds! My midwife never suggested I would need more, and certainly never raised any concerns about my diet being lacking in anything the baby would need. DD was 7lb 8oz and in perfect health when born.
