Vegan meringues - tips please

I have tried to make vegan meringues from BBC recipe 100g caster sugar and water from the chick peas whipped up really nicely and mainly kept its shake but it’s been in fan oven at 90 degrees for 1.5 hours and still not cooked - any ideas the foolproof recipe ?

Both of the recipes that I use say 2 hours in the oven

Have you used some kind of acid (lemon/vinegar eg) in the batter? I've always added that, it's in the recipes I've used, but not sure if that's related to this problem. I've left mine longer than you though.
