What do you order from Chinese takeaway?

Is veggie chow mein vegan?

I order tofu in black bean sauce or salt and pepper tofu. Boiled rice or mushroom fried rice.

I also order tofu in black bean sauce, vegetable chow mein, plain rice, Vegetable spring rolls.

Chow mein is usually egg noodle. But the rice noodles are vegan

Do you normally check whether the sauces are vegan? So many Chinese restaurants use oyster sauce or chicken stock but still call the dish vegetarian. I tend to avoid them for that reason but maybe these days they're adapting to demand.

@HetMeal that’s why I often order salt and pepper tofu! I know my local takeaway uses vegan black bean sauce, but can’t be sure everywhere!

Thanks rung up and ordered with rice noodles instead. Didn't really think to ask about the curry sauce or chow mein sauce though 🥴 probably should next time!

Most of the Chinese takeaways i have been to do fried rice without the egg if you ask.
