Can I have some love vegan guys?

I ordered noodles and salt and pepper aubergine from a local place with a little vegan menu. On Deliveroo the whole menu was a bit different and jumbled together but some items had V next to them (not Deliveroos own symbol, one the restaurant had added). I was sure it meant vegan because egg fried rice had no V but plain rice did, for example.

But as I opened the noodles I realised they looked similar to egg noodles (I was expecting the very thin sort you normally get). I ate them anyway Sad I havent don't that in nearly two years, I think my hunger took over!

I feel guilty and worried but I'm also trying to just get over it... I don't want to chase the restaurant now as they're probably so busy (and they may also just be a type of noodle I've not seen - they didn't taste eggy). I think I'll just chalk it up and next time I order I'll phone up and ask them specifically if that dish contains eggs.

Sorry I know I sound like a giant over-thinker but my veganism is important to me. Anyone else ever had this happen?

Not quite the same but both my children have cmpa and I have eaten things accidentally that have given them
Dreadful stomach ache and felt very very guilty for not being careful enough

Ah that sounds really tough, you can only do you best can't you Flowers

Don't give yourself a hard time. I don't know if it will help but I found out in December that Flora had changed the recipe for their Buttery spread back in October - and had started putting buttermilk back in it. To be fair, when I looked at the pack, there is indeed a small gold circle now on the front that says 'with buttermilk', and I should have noticed it, but because it had been safe for vegans for so long I never properly looked. You just had the one slip up (that might not even have been a slip up!) - I was eating that stuff on my toast every day for months!!

Like you I felt absolutely dreadful but it's done now and we can't change it. You're doing your best and that's what matters.

I would have 100% made the same mistake if I hadn't happened to see it on FB!!

I did a similar thing in Australia... Normally I have a quick look of the allergens in bold on packets of things that you wouldn't ordinarily expect to contain any animal products... In Australia they don't list animal fats in bold. So about 4000 mini apple pies later I actually realised. I can be really hard to be vigilant all the time!

@ZaraTheWonderDog I also made the same mistake with flora buttery spread, genuinely thought it tasted worse with the buttermilk too 🤮

However the flora proactive ‘buttery taste’ spread is vegan, and tastes just like the original flora buttery.
