Falafel help please

I usually use the Granose mix but last time all I could get was Bosh which were awful and gritty. Decided now that I will make my own from scratch.

Looking for an easy recipe, that can be authentic or not. Something for picky eaters. I use the falafels in a wrap with hummus and salad, if that helps.

The Al Fez (I think that's the correct spelling) is good.

My dc like falafel quite sweet, so I use this recipe now realfood.tesco.com/recipes/sweet-potato-falafel-with-tomato-couscous.html

I use the Al Fez mix but years ago when I made my own I used the Nigel Slater recipe, it came out well as I recall. Can be found part way down here or in various other places online.

Thanks, I will check out that mix and the recipes.

I use the Ottolgenghi recipe from Jerusalem

I've also tried them with a mix of fava beans (dried broad beans) and chickpeas - I prefer the chickpeas only, but in case you wanted to give them a go:

I think falafel are really lovely with tahini sauce - in case you wanted to try, here's a good recipe

I find this one quite successful but use gram flour instead of plain, and bake in the oven instead of air fry.

I use this recipe regularly but make into balls rather than burgers

This is my favourite. So much nicer than packet mixes or ready made

This is the one I use. It’s never failed, every other one I’ve tried the felafels have fallen apart while frying.

BlueCowWonders · 07/03/2021 07:28

I've used the Nadiya Hussein recipe and just left out the egg. The recent works perfectly well without. I also used normal flour instead of chickpea.

It was a hit with all the family

theneverendinglaundry · 11/03/2021 14:34

This isn't a recipe but I buy Ramona's Kitchen falafel and they're so so good. A frozen 500g bag for only £3.25.

But dried chickpeas and commit the time to preparing them. Tinned or jarred just don't work.
